Notre Dame quarterback Steve Angeli

You are correct, it was not his play on the field, it was everything else why he got kicked off the team. Maybe I just don’t understand but having your team tell you to look elsewhere means you lost your job.
It does mean that, but it’s the “why” he lost his job that we are talking about.

Is Marcus Freeman's offense anything at all like Heupel's? I don't think it is.

He'd be starting from scratch, I think. Not every talented QB is a good fit.

Even Brady or Peyton wouldn't be good fits for Heupel despite understanding the offense very well. It's just not the style of offense for them.
Speculation by fans may be fun....but IMO just trust CJH & his staff. They forgot more in the past 5 minutes than any of us will ever know about what's the best path. GBO.

Sounds like a very solid QB! And I'm guessing he's entering the portal with a goal of coming to Tennessee. He checks all the boxes! Two years of eligibility left.

Damnit I think he’s bad

I agree. My thought in this situation is that Heupel has a style of QB in mind but the best I can do is think of how much the kid coming in will need to learn fast.

He's got to be smart, first, but it would be nice if he comes from a spread-ish, veer-ish environment. That may be totally off.

The fact is he was behind Sam Hartman and then Riley Leonard. The fact is he has a 10-1 TD-INT ratio. The fact is that he was in a damn good stable of QBs and couldn’t win the job and that’s no fault on his athletic abilities. He stuck it out for 3 years. Kid is a stub and would be a slam dunk for Hype.

We can all argue back and forth and it’s fun doing so but it seems some have set the bar too high for who they think will come here.
Riley Leonard is not very good. Great athlete bad passer.

We have an Offensive linemen that played with him at ND. Could be interesting to see what happens. Plus I’m sure Holden Staes could give him insight on TN

Never saw a throw down field.
Yes, I was checking all posts before I commented on that, so as to not steal anyone’s thunder. Every pass in that video was approximately within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage, and no pass traveled even as far as our screen passes to the far side. He might be able to throw downfield, but you could not tell from that collection of check downs.

Friend said he heard TN had tested the waters on three QBs so far. One was not interested, but there was interest from the other two, one more so than the other. Wonder if K St qb said nah, and the discussions are now with the Baylor and ND kids? Anyone hear anything similar?
