The people’s eyebrow has been raised!!!!!

And since Fulmer didn’t get to.

Didn't see it ....

"She's come to understand the love for Tennessee athletics"

Can you elaborate? She didn't understand that previously? Heck, that may be part of the problem!

There are a lot of negative comments about Dr. Davenport but overall I thought she did really well. She’s not gonna answer the questions the way you want them answered. There is a lot of liability for every word that comes out of her mouth and she’s not going to risk saying something that puts the University in further jeopardy or gets misinterpreted by the fantastic media that was no doubt in the room. I was really impressed with Coach Fulmer. He sounds very committed. Let’s do this right from this point going forward.
I'm sorry but I'm not giving her a pass. Our brand has been damaged by an employee under her and a rogue booster, repeatedly. She's either complicit or incompetent and in either case she needs to be out on her ass.

I wish there had been more discussion about the "process" for selecting a coach. That seems to be what got the University in this mess in the first place. Is the decision a unilateral one by the A.D. going forward, will there be a committee etc? Will Phil choose multiple candidates and a group decide on one etc. Not sure what works best, but if they can avoid going through this again, obviously that makes sense.

Davenport is weak, can't handle the big time. Avoided every hard question. Guess what, we are all tired of this, but we fans deserve some answers. Don't care for John Adams, but he threw a hardball and she whiffed.

We’re the laughing stock of the sports world at the moment and still have no coach. Sir, I’m not seeing how this is the greatest day since the national championship.

You're just too uninformed to REMEMBER when Barry Alvarez drove Bielema out and took over for himself....and installed Chryst as Wisconsin's coach....

Wisconsin is MUCH BETTER for this type of intervention...

It takes FOOTBALL MEN...to straighten out messes created by the pencil-necked and academic dipsticks in authority....

I say Davenport's head is the next to roll....and give Phil complete authority to get this hire right!

GO VOLS!

A bunch of predictable cap and a bunch of dodged questions.

At least Fulmer did say all the right things. He didn't dodge anything. Admitted football program has been awful (didn't use the word "awful" but you got the point) and made some comments that if you read between the lines alludes to infighting within the AD, and he is going to try and do something about it.

Guys,
I'm a student at UT and I have to stick up for Davenport. She already stood up to Governor Haslam's plans to outsource UT's employees to a company out of Chicago. She is alright in my book.

she didn't answer them at all.

yes she has to be careful but that was ridiculous - information will come out from other sources and if she or her people don't get on top if it she loses control of the story.

-Our football program has the tradition and resources to play with anyone, anytime, and that's what we plan to do again.

I said AMEN out loud in my office. Ok Coach I’m back in.

And for Dr Bev. Thus far she has been rather meh. But the strain was obvious in her voice. Time will tell if she’s learned from this and is going to be able to salvage her career at UTK. But most of all Dear God thank you Dr Bev for not signing those two damn MOUs!!!

GO BIG ORANGE!!!

I'm sure she's fine in academic matters. I think she has no concept of how big of a deal football is at a place like Tennessee though. How does she think a 102,455-seat stadium got there?

I should have been more clear, I was talking about Davenport.

Phil was good.

I dont know if she respects football, but she clearly has the stones to put the university before the Haslam family. That was my point.

We're Tennessee again and I ****ing love it.

I always had a feeling this story might end well.

We're a great hire away from 30 for 30 territory.

She may be ok and I give her credit for standing up to the plans for outsourcing. Been through the outsourcing myself and it isn't the most fun thing to go through.

But, she looked really uncomfortable at the table. It could be she doesn't speak well in that situation or it could be she really does have concern for how bad the brand has been tarnished. She didn't have to answer all the questions but she did need to be poised and decisive in her answers. She didn't exhibit either of those..

Thank you. She seems pretty tough to me. And smart. Her opening remarks were spot on and what needed to be said. Fulmer followed up by knocking it out of the park. He acknowledged her leadership and seems to respect her. We are 180 degrees from where we were yesterday. GBO!

Greatest day in Tennessee football history since National Championship

Seeing Fulmer up there had me in literal tears. He was the only coach I knew growing up. He brought the love I have for the vols today and I'm glad he's leading us!

Anyone notice that Phil seemed to find his voice the more he talked. I could hear the passion in his voice and he seemed to be more commanding the more he spoke.

Is there a link to the archive of the press conference?

i would imagine she said Currie was "suspended" so they could later try to find a reason to fire him with cause.
