Not happy with DeBord.

show and tell this Saturday
biggest game in Jones era

“Before you want to talk about this is the most important game and everything, it’s not the most important game,” Jones said. “It is the most important game in terms of it’s the next game, and that is the way it is.”

When Dobbs becomes accurate, WRs make plays, they find an OL worth a dang, and Medley wakes up, and the entire team doesn't fold but RISES to the occasion

Ill get back to you.

With all the talent we have on offense, why is DeBord not taking full advantage? I get so tired of seeing us being overly conservative on Offense. I'm not here calling for his job or anything, but when will we open it up more? We should have beat OU, but defense slacked off and our offense seemed to be content being conservative and not putting more pressure on the downfield passing game. Hurd and Kamara are capable of keeping drives going, but why not use Dobbs the way we did at the end of last season? I'm just not too happy with our production. Thoughts?

Well this thought came out of nowhere.

What hurt the flow of the offense 2nd half was 3 possessions. 1 Pearson slipped made it 2nd and 16. Other possession Hurd fumbled recovered it 12 yards back. Made it 2nd and 22. Another was when Dobbs got sacked for a 15 yard loss and what might have been an OU TD if not for a quick whistle.
These things puts your OC behind the 8 ball.

As conservative as the play calling was against OK in the 2nd half, the players still had multiple opportunities to make plays to win the game. The coaches put the players in position to win and they didnt get it done.

The worst thing about them going into conservative mode was they failed to run the play clock down along with it. Once they went conservative, if they had ran the play clock down under 3 seconds each play, we would have still won the game. Just a poor job anyway you look at it.

Coach speak is worth nothing, Jones can say it's not a big game but every UT fan knows it is every player knows it is. If Jones loses on Saturday, a lot more of the fan base we realize we may have more of a problem with either personnel or coaching, things will be a lot more unfriendly. What is dumb is for anyone to say a fan base is dumb for pointing out the truth!

What happens when your oline sucks?
Even Luck had no luck.

Key to season = oline play

Have you guys ever thought that we are not showing everything yet? Why would we show Florida our entire offense, Butch knows this game is the most important i think a lot of the offense has been held back.

Maybe the staff sees what the players do in practice and know their limitations? Maybe teams now have a better scout on Dobbs and his strength and weaknesses? Maybe Dobbs struggles due to the fact that he's still relatively young in terms of actual live game experience? Maybe our OL hasn't progressed to the point of being able to protect Dobbs long enough to allow longer routes? Maybe the WRs aren't yet capable of beating press coverage and/or aren't solid in making reads yet? Those are just a few questions I can think of.

Bottom line is that I'm a regular fan who sees games on TV and while I played a PlayStation a few times, I'm not capable of any great insight to what our coaches or team are or aren't capable of.

Right now I don't know if we blame the coach or Dobbs.

Or the OL? Or the receivers for not beating press coverage against smaller DBs? Or the position coaches? Or the "Fulmer Curse"? Or the UF curse? Or Dooley?

It's hard for us fans to know all the intricacies of what the problems are. You'll find more frustration on VN than answers, more superstitions than knowledge, and more blow-hards than insight.

I question the playcall more than the QB mechanics. Constant rushed up the middle when it's clearly not working, multiple screens for no gain or a loss, and the fear of throwing it more than 10 yards downfield? I just don't like it. I'm not a nut-job fan who thinks we can throw it deep every play and have 500+ yards of total offense every quarter, but why keep the playcall so conservative? Use the downfield pass to set up the run, but not up the middle every time. I just want to see more production.

Do you know whether the long pass was taken off the table for Dobbs by the coaches? Whether Dobbs was afraid to take it? Whether Dobbs had time to take it with the pocket collapsing? Whether the receivers were open downfield when the pocket did not collapse?

There were plays called with deep routes being run. So, how do you know Debord took them off the table for Dobbs? You actually think they called plays, with set progressions for the QB to make, but Debord instructed Dobbs to ignore some of those progressions?

"Liked" your post.

Isn't it nice that we can all type out our opinions on the internet about random thought processes?

Yes, we are frustrated as a fan base that UT didn't win the OU game. Fact is, you're not going to see anything new this weekend with our offense that you didn't see against OU.

OLine play and execution was the problem against OU second half and if you watch the game this weekend be prepared.

YOU WILL SEE THE SAME GAME PLAN. OLine has to man up against the big boys and team has to execute.

Rant on!!

Butch says it's just another game. Just the next as he put it.

But wait... Those are all player miscues, and the type of bad mojo that just sort of "happens" in ballgames from time to time... Are you suggesting that our offense isn't completely broken (an indication supported by the other 5 game-half stats)? And that our coaches aren't complete idiot-morons?

That's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see how it works out for you around here.

I am not really concerned with what he tells the media - why on earth would he say this is the most important game so they can all tweet about it and start a big commotion?

This game has been circled on his calendar since the beginning of the year, he is not stupid. This game honestly sets the tone for the rest of the year IMO.

Yeah the OU game was important but its not SEC play.

Then you should immediately cut off your $$ donations to UT. That will send a loud message that YOU are not happy with the way things are being handled by Butch Jones....when your money stops that will get their attention. Exactly how much do you donate each year?? ( insert crickets chirping )

Lighten up Francis!
