I am 100% convinced UT has the dumbest fanbase
With all the talent we have on offense, why is DeBord not taking full advantage? I get so tired of seeing us being overly conservative on Offense. I'm not here calling for his job or anything, but when will we open it up more? We should have beat OU, but defense slacked off and our offense seemed to be content being conservative and not putting more pressure on the downfield passing game. Hurd and Kamara are capable of keeping drives going, but why not use Dobbs the way we did at the end of last season? I'm just not too happy with our production. Thoughts?
As conservative as the play calling was against OK in the 2nd half, the players still had multiple opportunities to make plays to win the game. The coaches put the players in position to win and they didnt get it done.
The worst thing about them going into conservative mode was they failed to run the play clock down along with it. Once they went conservative, if they had ran the play clock down under 3 seconds each play, we would have still won the game. Just a poor job anyway you look at it.
Before you want to talk about this is the most important game and everything, its not the most important game, Jones said. It is the most important game in terms of its the next game, and that is the way it is.
Right now I don't know if we blame the coach or Dobbs.
I question the playcall more than the QB mechanics. Constant rushed up the middle when it's clearly not working, multiple screens for no gain or a loss, and the fear of throwing it more than 10 yards downfield? I just don't like it. I'm not a nut-job fan who thinks we can throw it deep every play and have 500+ yards of total offense every quarter, but why keep the playcall so conservative? Use the downfield pass to set up the run, but not up the middle every time. I just want to see more production.
When Dobbs becomes accurate, WRs make plays, they find an OL worth a dang, and Medley wakes up, and the entire team doesn't fold but RISES to the occasion
Ill get back to you.
What hurt the flow of the offense 2nd half was 3 possessions. 1 Pearson slipped made it 2nd and 16. Other possession Hurd fumbled recovered it 12 yards back. Made it 2nd and 22. Another was when Dobbs got sacked for a 15 yard loss and what might have been an OU TD if not for a quick whistle.
These things puts your OC behind the 8 ball.
Butch says it's just another game. Just the next as he put it.
