Not calling for Fulmer's head

Peyton Manning will never be a head coach. I honestly don't think he would be a good one anyway. His patience would run out quickly. He's so friggen good he'll expect some 18 year old to "toss it around like I did son".

Heady football player, great ethic, nose for the game but will not be a HC.

Peyton Manning will be Coach at UT. Take it to the bank. In some day in the future. Perfect Fit.

I'm actually a big fan of his. But.....what if the position were open? Do you all think it would draw the kind of interest the Florida job drew...where we pretty much get our pick of coaches. Or would we have to go searching and get shot down a few times like Bama.
I'm calling for your head since you've started another Fulmer topic.

Do you think they were saying the same thing about Dan Marino after his career going to Pitt.

If he wins this years Super Bowl and maybe another while getting 15 million+ a year to be a QB till he's 38-40. With all those rings, money, prestige, fame, greatness why go back and have the head ache of doing a job day in day out when you have 200 million in the bank and can go to the Bahamas and make about the same as a college coach while sitting in CBS studios throwing a couple soundbytes around.

It makes no sence to me and I think everyone is simply wishfully thinking he'll come here and coach. Think about it if you accomplished the highest goal in sports and had 200 million in the bank and could pretty much do anyhting you wanted when it came to football jobs you're going to go to the grind of being a College coach? Where you have to be responsible for players and have to hear fans grumble if you don't win.

I don't get it. At All and I expect many "Ohhh he loves the game such a competitor" Thats great and all but after time you'll just want to go away and just enjoy what you've done.

Florida didn't have their pick of coaches. Urban was a third choice.

Revisionist history on your part...

I was wondering if somebody was going to bring that up. Meyer was not a "pick of the litter" choice. He came after Bob Stoops decided to stay at Oklahoma and after Steve Spurrier declined to be a part of a dog and pony show interview process.

edit: I remembered Weiss didn't turn down Florida, but it was indeed ND getting Weiss after Meyer had rejected them.

RT, I'm a huge PM fan as well, statisically speaking Peyton is one of the best to play the game.IMO Brady is the best overall QB to ever play the game until PM wins as many super bowls as he has.

Please don't tell me you actually believe that. I guess a hack like Trent Dilfer is better than Peyton Manning because Dilfer has won a super bowl and Peyton hasn't. Brady's success is a DIRECT result of playing for the best coach in the game, Bill Belichick.

Like I said . . . name a bona fide star that went back to coach his college alma mater. Superstars who make piles of cash don't go on to become coaches. They go do TV gigs, buy toys, endorse products and play celebrity golf.

Peyton has stated that he would one day like to coach. I don't think it's out of the relm of possibility that he one day winds up at his alma matter. He would probably make an outstanding coach.

If he's doesn't start out as a HC, he'd be good to start as a QB coach or an offensive coach.:good!:

3 great NFL players without 1 millisecond of college coaching experience.

You said they don't become coaches:

Superstars who make piles of cash don't go on to become coaches. They go do TV gigs, buy toys, endorse products and play celebrity golf.

Some of them turned into pretty good coaches.
