Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2025-26

They can sit then. They have absolutely no right to attempt to forcibly make medical decisions for others. I haven’t commented much about this situation but I think this will go down as a mistake for Duke women’s BB.

IMO Duke should not be allowed to practice if they are not playing. Seems a very unfair advantage to be able to take an entire season off to practice and train without interruption of games and travel. If their season is done it needs to be completely done.

Because UCONN has not played a ranked team yet and NC State beat then #1 SC.
Not really. UConn was No. 3 last week and NC State was No. 4 last week. The SC game with NC State was weeks ago.

In fact, NC State didn't play last week and UConn beat a previously undefeated Villanova team by 30.

It just shows how ridiculous the polling is.

Last week, UConn 676, NC State 674
This week, UConn 674, NC State 675

All that happened is ONE voter moved UConn down two spots and NC State up one spot.

That would make that voter an idiot who didn't pay attention to what they did the week before and what the weekly results were.

I am normally in agreement with most of your posts, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to strongly disagree on this particular issue. (And I know you'll agree that that's okay!)

In my opinion, punishing the players for making the difficult decision to end their season for health-safety reasons by not even letting them practice would be unnecessarily adding insult to injury in a year that has been a disaster for just about everyone on the planet. Are you worried that those players being allowed to practice is going to be soooooo, so much more fabulously fun and advantageous than the experiences everyone else is going to have actually playing games against opponents?

Can't we be a little more charitable and empathetic to these women whom, I am CERTAIN, would much rather play the games? No need to put the double-whammy on these young people. If they feel comfortable with the efforts they will put in to keep each other safe, let them be around each other safely and at least not have to feel so completely awful all the time. Can you imagine the guilt the one player who contracted COVID must feel, deserved or not? Ugh.

To each their own. I stand by what I said and respect your position. I haven’t made any comment on that situation primarily because I have little desire to fight with people on here. We all have our own opinions about the virus. I live with it everyday as a healthcare provider.

Watching Zaay play for A&M. I miss her. She’s the only player we lost that I really wish was still a LV. She brings such good energy.

Yeah, I was particularly disappointed when I learned Zaay would be leaving because I was fairly certain she had enough talent and speed to become the best player on Tennessee’s roster. The positive energy she had as a Lady Vol, even after she’d been sidelined with injury, was a joy to see. I always want those young people who make dumb mistakes to bounce back and learn from those mistakes to become successful adults, so I’m pulling hard for her at A&M.

I rarely allow myself to think about it, but can you imagine the team we could put on the floor if we had healthy and committed Z. Green, Westbrrok, Collins, and Massengill to go with Davis, Burrell, and Key (with Suarez and KK coming off the bench)?

Ah, that's in the past. We just need to be patient and rebuild following the Barnes pattern of changing the culture, player development, and steady team improvement that leads to recruiting upper echelon talent that fits the mold. We can get there, and I believe we'll be back sooner than later.

Yes, I can imagine. I think about it all the time.

I’m gonna make us imagine it lol

Westbrook/Massengill/Walker
Burrell/Horston/Salary
Davis/Green/Darby
Collins/Suarez
Key/KK/Saunders

Completely different roster and team. 🤷🏿‍♂️ We were cheated out of this roster and I’m pissed. All of those first 10 players could give you good-great minutes. Let’s not forget Hayes staying.

I know they never made public what she did (and rightfully so) but I don’t understand why she couldn’t learn her lesson, learn from her mistake and still be a Lady Vol. I’m just not a big fan of writing people off. I’m sure they thought it through before asking her to leave but, geez.

Did they ask her to leave, or did she decide to do so on her own? I thought it was the latter.
