How can half of kids be obese and 25% malnourished? So only 25% of kids are in a normal range? I rarely see a kid out that doesn't look like it could miss a meal or four. Our kid is 25-30th percentile weight and we have to buy at least down a size if not more. The clothes are made for all these tub tub kids now.

Are those actual facts or are you just making that up? I got mine from the Feeding America website.

While I may not have the same beliefs as you and as a whole I don't believe, I always have appreciated the community work a lot of churches do, whether it be feeding the needy or whatever.

If people ever went on a mission trip they would do more. I am sure i could do more, not really financially but with time and service. We go to nicaragua to a mission that our church supports and it is life changing. All the people live in dirt floor houses generally about 10ftx10ft made out of corrugated metal that comes from the govt wrapped around 4 posts to make a shack. There is little to no running water or electricity, very little food really, its insane. My kids no longer talk about things not being "fair" or ever say "i am starving." They have seen and spent time with people who were born into extreme poverty that really cant be overcome, and people who are close to truly starving. The funny thing is that for the most part the people there are happy. Happier than most i know here. They live very simple lives and arent burdened by all the stresses and desires of our modern world.

It's funny these people are mad about what strangers are doing but will take their kids to a park to meet a giant talking mouse and a duck with unchecked rage and declare "magic" for all involved.

The difference is they know it's make believe

Sounds like going back in time to the days of Jesus.

Make sure you take lots of pictures for us when you go.

I would honestly love to meet Ken Ham in person and measure him up. I can usually tell when people are FOS when I look at them in the face and have a conversation with them. I want to know if he actually believes the garbage he spews or he's just a charlatan in it for the money(and it does appear that he is making a lot of money off his shtick).

:) Have you seen the "man in the mirror" when you look to see if he's FOS too?

If he is sincere, then I would be surprised. I have a hard time believing someone so articulate could actually be a young earth creationist.

In addition to testing just shy of genius, earning golden gloves, and having a kid at the top of his class, Marcus is also omniscient and knows true hearts and minds and who gets salvation.

Doesn't make him a bad person though.

If he actually believes the lies, yes, lies, he's spreading as fact, then sure. He's not a bad person, just ignorant. Of course, I'm referring to the basic tenets of young earth theory, since we know for a fact they're absurdly incorrect.

If he does in fact understand it's all a sham and he's in it for the publicity and cash(and let's not act like that's such a stretch), then I would say that makes him a bad person.

This is why these conversaionts go south.non believers always try to claim some intellectual high ground. You just said "hes yoo smart to be that stupid." Saying that YEC are too stupid to be that well spoken.you are also implying that ham is either stupidor a liar...which is insulting. I have no idea how old the earth is. Nor does anyone else...i am certainly not convinved that it is 4.2 billion years old or whatever, and that certainly doesnt make me stupid, or a liar.

Listen "Rocket" , i explained yesterday, for the kids who didnt know, that golden gloves is not a trophy, an award, or accomplishment. It is a division of amateur boxing that is the "farm league" for the professional ranks. Pay attention because you make yourself look clueless when you put your foot in your mouth over and over and over. Seems that you never tire of that, lol.

Also, never called myself a genius, and was making a remark where i complomented your intelligence and implied that our relative smarts were alike, while neither of us were Einstein.

As to my son...leave him out of your garbage. Its not going to troll me, and family is generally off limits aroind here. That is a known rule and gentlemans agreement. You seem to be classless and immature sometimes though, so i dont expect you to show the common decency and act like a grown man whether you are or not.

And no, "Rocket", me bringing up my sons academic achievement does not introduce him to the conversation and make criticism of him fair game. You can call me whatever you like, talk all the trash you want and not upset me, but leave my family alone. I have never mentioned anyone related to you and dont intend to. Grow up. Please.

honestly, ham is not that well-spoken.

I think there are very smart Christians...way smarter than me...but they don't believe in young earth. Young earth is a scientific joke and to accept it, you have to make the baseless assumption that the science doesn't match the story in order to try our faith.

I always want to ask a young earther why dinosaurs aren't mentioned in the Bible. All kinds of animals are mentioned, many as threats to people. Yet, no giant lizards. You'd think they'd be important enough to merit at least a passing mention somewhere in scripture.

The only difference is we don't lie to our kids and tell them that giant mouse and duck are real and you better be nice to them or you will rot in hell for eternity.

But this guy is real...right?

Marcus, please. The age of the earth isn't a random number pulled out of someone's ass. It's a scientific calculation. Not accurate to the exact decade, but accurate enough to know the earth is over four billion years old. Which is a far cry from 6,000 years old. If you have any actual arguments against the science behind those calculations, let's hear them. It shouldn't be hard to formulate a couple arguments from a near genius such as yourself. This should be a real treat.

I was probably giving him more credit than he's due about being well-spoken. Maybe it's just the cynic in me, but it's often hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that certain people who are at least somewhat articulate can honestly believe things like young earth creationism. I know there are many charlatans out there who preach nonsense they know is nonsense just to make a buck, and Ham certainly fits the profile. But he very well may just be a straight up imbecile.
