No we are not wrong. We got robbed!

Pushing is legal, pulling isn't. Look it up. Fant pulls him forward, obviously.

via @ESPN App http://espn.com/app

When have you ever seen that called? I'm sure if Helen Keller had not called forward progress stopped they would have reviewed it and called " illegal pulling" on Fant.
I told my son 5 mins into the game these officials would probably cost one of the teams the game.

I mean watch the replay, he wasn’t pulled in. Kid was laying over the defender and stretched the ball out. Fant is barely touching him.

Ok, I think UT should have given a touchdown because the play wasn't over.

But your description of the video is 100% wrong. Barely touching him? In the video he clearly is pulling before the ball is stretched over. It's not even debatable and if you're still standing by this description then you're either blind or you're lying just to stick with what you already think. It's right there on video. Here I'll post with the timestamp.

Robbed for sure. But if you just handle that last series correctly you’re kicking the game winning field goal. Not sure why you keep trying for bombs to the endzone when you only need 30 yards for a FG to win. Those sideline routes and slants were working just fine.
What game was it where we marched down the field in like 14 seconds, to kick a FG and end the half? That’s what I kept thinking about.
GBO!!

Some people are right. Forward progress is often called then a whistle blown, when there has been no forward progress for seconds. He was stopped for not even a second and the official decides to rule forward progress which is bogus. Where was this guy when we had their TE wrapped up taking him to the sideline and we let go of him prior to him running out?

And
I posted the rule. No one seems to care. You can't pull a player, only push from behind.

SECTION 3. Blocking, Use of Hands or Arms
Who May Block
ARTICLE 1. Players of either team may block opponents, provided it is not
pass interference, interference with the opportunity to catch a kick or a personal
foul (Exception: Rules 6-1-12 and 6-5-4).
Interfering for or Helping the Ball Carrier or Passer
ARTICLE 2. a. The ball carrier or passer may use their hand or arm to ward off
or push opponents.
b. The ball carrier shall not grasp a teammate; and no other teammate shall
grasp, pull, or lift the ball carrier to assist in forward progress.
(A.R. 9-3-2-I)
c. Teammates of the ball carrier or passer may interfere with opponents by
blocking but shall not use interlocked interference by grasping or encircling
one another in any manner while contacting an opponent.
PENALTY—Five yards [S44].
I have never seen a flag thrown for that. Ever.

Come on. It was an important play but it was one of many. Several that UT had control of and didn't take advantage of. Look at the decisions Heupel made. Look at all the over throws by Hooker. Look at all the missed tackles on that TE play that looked like a pee wee team playing defense that's making the rounds. Any one of those changes and we likely win the game. UT doesn't have enough play makers. We simply don't make enough plays when it's crunch time. Refs blew it but so did we....several times.

That TD should have been game over.

No whistle was blown whenever the ball crossed the end zone. Forward progress was still going on.

Purdue didn’t deserve to win sh*t.

I know people tend to scoff at fans who always blame the refs. Normally it’s over a hold here or there or whatever. Over the long run they should even out. But when it comes to blatantly horrendous officiating, Tennessee is routinely on the wrong end. At some point it really makes you wonder how that can be

I actually thought that in real time. "You can't pull, only push...." because I did see it called in the NFL.

That's when I looked at the NCAA rules.

They specifically removed push and left pull. It's dumb as hell and the NFL color guys I recall called it stupid to allow one, not the other.

But there it is. If you want the rules enforced "to the letter"......peas and carrots on this play.

Mostly, the refs were weak the entire game.

I think what bothers everyone is you are advocating for a rule that was not Flagged on this play. You come off as a relative of the refs trying to come up with a reason they called forward progress stopped. In the ref's mind what you are advocating didn't happen because he did not throw a flag. Your persistence on this makes it seem like you're anti-Vol, just saying.

Point is that it was one of many plays that didn't go our way. We left it in the hands of the zebras and for UT, that's just asking for a screw job.

Neither did we to be honest.. we did everything we could to lose

We deserved to win cause we scored the winning TD. No whistle was blown, forward progress was still going on, the ball crosses the goal line, game over.

Total screw job.

Not only once but twice this season.

That wasn’t the winning TD. Purdue could have and probably would have scored a TD anyway. We will never know now.

Rule 1: Always follow the money. Rule 2: Always follow the money! Almost impossible for these refs to be as bad as they were without an incentive. The spots were really bad for TN, phantom holding calls and just plain bogus P/I calls. My question is if the powers that be at TN don’t give a damn, why should the fans care? These refs need to be held accountable.

You can even watch Hendon Hooker's reaction and see he knows it wasn't a TD.

Just watch and key on Hooker or any of the TN players. They know it's short. Watch all of their reactions.

Sorry bro this straight off the S.I article and the what the rest the world including our team saw....

When Wright was finally brought down, Tennessee’s players celebrated and signaled touchdown. They thought he had scored, and so had everyone else when the play went for review.

Except then, officials upheld their call — stopped short of the goal-line due to forward progress being halted — and the Boilermakers exploded.

Never mind that the play had been blown dead after the ball crossed the goal line, or that Wright’s churning legs should have sent a “forward progress” discussion out the window — the ruling was upheld, and that was that.

I thought another terrible call which ended up being potentially game changing was the offsetting personal foul penalties on the play prior to Hookers fumble. Purdue had already been called for an unsportsmanlike conduct and a late hit on Tillman out of bounds. Their D lineman was the one who came in late on that play.

Who cares what their reactions were? Most of them saw Wright’s body short, but they didn’t see that his knee or other body parts weren’t on the ground while the ball was across the goalline. Thier reactions are also based on the line judge waving his arms over his head rather than signalling touchdown.

Half the time players‘ reactions are trying to influence a referee decision anyway, even if the player knows what the reality was (e.g. a touchdown that wasn’t or holding that was).

Edit: After watching the replay again, Hooker signals touchdown and only puts his arms down whe he sees the line judge mark him short. But again, the players’ reactions are not relevant to the discussion of whether this should be ruled a touchdown.
