It was close. Probably should’ve Gu e it another second before they called forward progress having been stopped. But how on earth do we get the ball with excellent field position (with all 3 time outs and 50 seconds) amd not get in fg range? We blew 25+ seconds running the ball on first and second down to gain 10 years. That was so dumb. If we just drop back and throw 15+ yard slants to Tillman amd Jones…we almost certainly move straight down the field.

It was, which was why I looked it up.

They neither blew the whistle NOR called the obvious pulling.

I'm not saying the refs weren't awful; I'm saying there were offsetting f ups on the play.

If this had been reversed and Purdue dragged a guy in, the fanbase here would posting the "pulling a player" rule to show we got screwed.
Who gives a damn what they’d be saying?

Nope. You are the only one taking about it. Everyone else knows fant didn’t help him in.

I'm just quoting the rule and watching the video.

Did he grab him? Yes. Was he already across when he grabbed him? No.

If it makes you feel better, I lost $50 to a friend on the game.

It was a complete horseshit call. His cleats were digging into the ground to propel him forward. Calling his forward progress stopped is absolute garbage.

You can argue about whether he got pulled or not, but like 99.9% of other run plays in college football, it wasn’t flagged and wasn’t part of the review.

The call was awful and cost us 6 points.

What's odd to me is the inability to accept that:

The refs sucked AND they failed to blow the whistle when forward progress stopped AND they missed an obvious pull into the end zone.

ALL OF THOSE THINGS ARE TRUE.
Because none of us has seen that call ever. You are bringing up something that never gets called and quite frankly didn’t occur

Remember when they didn’t call this one on our final drive in regulation, when they called every single one on Warren burrel? Usually makeup calls take place but there was no reciprocation from these zebras.

The refs were f’ing horrible and that’s giving them too much credit

Whistle equals the play is dead, always has or at least I thought so.How they can blow a whistle 2 seconds after he crossed the goal line then say forward progress was stopped and it's the official decision.I mean I can't make any sense of this sh*t.

They ruled the Ole Miss play dead without ever blowing a whistle. We've been victimized by two of the worst calls ever this year and they both cost us the game.

I’ve bit my tongue for a long time when it comes to the officiating of Tennessee games.

1 - I don’t like to lean on the refs as an excuse for losing
2 - usually one bad / missed call shouldn’t be enough to cost you the game…there were other mistakes along the way

Both 1 and 2 apply to today’s game. We played poorly in all phases of the game.

The season is now over, so I’m going to throw it out there: I find it very hard to swallow how many calls go against us at critical junctures late in games. There are too many for it to be a mere coincidence. Be it a holding call that hasn’t been called all game, a pass interference, forward progress now.

I’m not alleging a conspiracy here, but I’m not ruling out anything nefarious either. It just feels like it happens too often to be a coincidence.

I actually thought that in real time. "You can't pull, only push...." because I did see it called in the NFL.

That's when I looked at the NCAA rules.

They specifically removed push and left pull. It's dumb as hell and the NFL color guys I recall called it stupid to allow one, not the other.

But there it is. If you want the rules enforced "to the letter"......peas and carrots on this play.

Mostly, the refs were weak the entire game.

First of all, we should have never been in a position of a bad call deciding the game. Second, when in the hell is the fanbase going to learn they can't chant "refs suck" every other call and it not piss them off. Yeah, I know...it isn't supposed to matter, but they are human too. Those refs make and break ball games!!!!

Statistically, that officiating crew tends to call more penalties and they tend to favor the underdog. They excelled in both areas tonight.

ESPN seems to agree with us, and that is saying something.

Thx for the screen shot. It's obvious he isn't across the line when Fant starts grabbing him.

It is what it is. The game would've been more fun, like most games I watch, with better officials. I wish that would be addressed in a multi-million dollar sport, but it hasn't been.

Robbed for sure. But if you just handle that last series correctly you’re kicking the game winning field goal. Not sure why you keep trying for bombs to the endzone when you only need 30 yards for a FG to win. Those sideline routes and slants were working just fine.
The cb just about tore Tillmans jersey off. Look at the replay it's pulled out at least a foot. The ref was looking right at it. I
