No way we get a 6 seed...

I want someone to show me all these at large candidates who have better bodies of work than Tennessee. The Vols are in and it's not really close.

OK, if that happens, then of course.

What are the odds we pull that off?

Nobody would be happier than me, but don't smoke on that just yet.

This seems most likely to me. Being that Flordia sucks on the road, and we are undefeated at home, I give us a 50/50 chance at Florida. I will assume we lose that for prediction purposes, then beat Georgia, and win one in the SEC tourney, and then lose the next game. I think 7 seed is what will happen.

I hate to agree with hat, but I do. Which of these mid majors / at large candidates have a better resume. Maybe a couple and if they lose in their slack conference tourneys, they are very likely to slide below us in seeding. So, either they're in as conference champs or they have a very good chance of being seeded below us.

West Virginia: Beat UConn, UCLA
DePaul: Beat ND, Marquette
Michigan St: Beat Texas, Wisconsin

If 20 is still the magic number, than the Big 10+1 could potentially send 8 teams with 20 wins (Michigan still has to play OSU).

How is beating a UCONN team that is going to the NIT a big deal? Look at DePaul's losses. UT's body of work far outstrips theirs. Also, UT's resume is better than any Big 10 team not named Ohio State or Wisconsin. Even mentioning Michigan in the same discussion as UT is laughable. The same would apply to Purdue, Illinois, or Indiana.

MSU I believe is up there.

DePaul beat Marquette while Dominic James was doing his Dane impression for a few games. The committee has to view that period much like they will the Lofton injury. James was that bad.

UConn was ranked when they beat them. In any event, If UT closes the reg. season with two loses, there in NO WAY they are a 6 seed... even with 20 wins.

I would gladly replace West Virginia with Louisville.

You keep saying UT will in no way be a 6 seed if they finish with 2 losses. Now who is saying that we would be that high?

No one did. All I've said is that it will take either (a win over Florida or b) reaching the finals of the SEC tourney.

My concern about the two losses in the last two games is more about making the NCAA tourney. Losing the last two and going one and done does not guarantee us a spot in the tourney.

The SEC is a bad week by Georgia away from only getting 4 teams into the tournament.

I honestly think we have a good shot at beating Florida this weekend. 5 is back, we're at home, we just got our road win... There isn't a better time than now to play Florida, the timing is just phenomenal.

Nobody is rooting harder for Andy Kennedy than I am. That said, Ole Miss in no way deserves an at large bid. They have exactly 0 nonconference wins that can even be considered decent. They are playing slightly better than .500 in the league. The selection committee isn't going to give them any credit for winning a horrible division.

I want to see someone post a legitimate case for the inclusion of any SEC West team in the field.
