No shame in a close win...

Look across football today.

Unranked USC is giving Michigan the business, top 10 Texas Tech is in a battle with Kansas. Florida is right with A&M. Hot Seat Hugh Freeze is leading Georgia, South Carolina is right with LSU. Oklahoma made the Texas offense look good. Oregon lost at home to an Indiana team with half their talent but a better coach. Oregon's crown jewel win is now 3-3 and just lost to NW. So maybe they aren't that good either. Ole Miss won by 3 as a 33 point favorite. Iowa State lost to a bad Colorado team. Florida State finished crashing from the top 25 losing to Pitt. Welcome to NIL era parity.

The only thing that really upset me today was going conservative up 10 with 8+ minutes to go. Go score right there and they have to start over down 17 but with less time. It was clear they couldn't stop us if we opened the playbook. Same with going conservative on D. We crushed them the second half by rushing relentlessly. We then pulled back the reigns and they scored in rapid fashion.

Squeaking out a win against a terrible team and looking awful while doing it is better than a loss but it doesn’t garner a ton of hope.
Our Offense I believe can shoot it out with any team, unfortunately our Defense can't match that intensity. I just hope we keep it close next week and not get boat raced and if we did some how have a 2 score lead going into the half we'll sit on it and get beat

Clean up the defense? The defense is flat out pathetic. I think it's more than just a cleanup that is needed, my friend.
I thought our defense played a great game, for the most part. Five sacks, three turnovers, and constant pressure on the QB.

I said all week this would be a tight game with Petrino in charge of the game plan and having two weeks to prepare. Heupel said on the post game there were schemes they hadn’t seen on film and their focus in practice was to be ready for anything and be able to adjust on the fly.

Arkansas is a well-coached team that had a great game plan from one of the best in the business. Anyone who thought this game would be well in hand by midway through the 3rd quarter is delusional.

They didn’t.

Correct. The networks and powers that be don't even hide who they want to win. They praised Petrino the entire game and showed him on camera at every break. They desperately wanted Arkansas to win because the media coverage would've been all about Petrino's redemption. The media has turned sports into a giant soap opera. The bad news? Get ready for the same love to be shown to Bama next week.

I’m not one for excuses. There are some plays where what you are saying is true. However, quick reminder, this is a very young team. It shows with the mistakes they are making. Eager, hungry and wanting to make a play (which shows in our TO ratio), but they lack fundamentals during the times they need them. Setting and holding edges and filling gaps when those edges are finally set. Also, seems like we are committing less to the run so we don’t leave our FR CB to get picked on all game. Which he is playing decently, and I think the game is slowing down for him finally, but he still would get picked on. However, when our defense has a scent on the ball, THEY ARE ELITE. Maybe one of the most ball hungry defense I’ve seen in a LONG time. When these young guys grow up, we’re gonna be a happy fan base.

It’s almost becoming like professional wrestling or boxing. In the Georgia - Auburn game, Kirby was allowed to take back a timeout he clearly called and officials refused to give Auburn a touchdown they clearly earned. There are more examples from that “game”.

I remember in 92 undefeated losing to freshman QB Arky team in Neyland. In the end its about one thing W which we got. Offense was C+ defense C- with 3 turnovers sometimes football games makes no sense. Now Banks Coaching of fundamentals in stopping run right now bad either the players are not listening or poorly coached. Three straight games of bad Run Defense. Again object is to Win got up 17 head official allowed pigs to hold our DL because of score and the next thing you are in a game again. Happy Lord's Day. In CHRIST Alone

That shouldn‘t effect the run defense though
It actually does because u can't simply man up on the outside and choke out the run like you could last year. We weren't giving McCoy and Gibson help last year and u saw our Safties feast at the los. Now they gotta play a lot of zone looks with 6 in the box. That affects the run defense for sure.

All I know for sure is that targeting got called. And I don't care if it go against our guys or for our guys. I still hate the guy that got it started, and the pricks that made it happen. It's is effing ridiculous.
