No more this about Barnes:

Simple. He was ambushed by the AD. Had the AD handled things the right way, it never would have happened. Also, What did Pearl do after? I heard he had an improper contact with a recruit, what they called a bump infraction. So please, tell us the egregious things Pearl did.
I can't believe you hit "send" with this pile of uninformed and ignorant BS. I will address it sequentially. The AD had meetings with Pearl after the improper BBQ. The BBQ itself wasn't a major issue, BUT was Pearl's second infraction with the NCAA as a coach. The first with UT. Aaron Craft, a committed recruit, but only a junior, attended the BBQ. Because he was a junior, he wasn't allowed that sort of visit. Someone reported it to the NCAA. After the NCAA notified UT of the report and their confirmation of the event, Pearl's bosses had a meeting with him. Told him what he must do to keep his job. UT was even going to retain him if there was a show cause and suspension. He did exactly the opposite of what they told him to do and called recruits he wasn't supposed to call and even worse, contacted Aaron Craft's father and asked him to lie to the NCAA. UT officials told him to tell the truth about the BBQ. He didn't tell the truth and Craft's Dad told them the truth and also told them Pearl asked them to lie about it. Those are all reported facts. In the end with his reduced payout, he threw his assistants under the bus by cutting their buyouts.

I know, right. We can’t rewrite the past, so I don’t sit around dreaming, “what if?” We’re fortunate to have Barnes. He’s also very fortunate we hired him. He was not a hot commodity when Texas let him go.
The guy who earlier today stated that Pearl could have done amazing things here had our AD not fired him says, "I don't sit around dreaming, "what if". You should do a self reflective study on "self awareness"

Craft’s people reported via Ohio State. It was sabatoge.
Reported facts? Ok, link me to the report.

Pat Summitt and it’s not close. The only reason I have one iota of interest in women’s bball is Pat Summitt. Barnes is a high character guy, but this is game of legacy, and legacy is made off of championships. That’s a harsh way to judge but it’s a fact. I can’t stand Fulmer, but I’d rank him above Majors just based on that fact alone. Vitello is similar to Pat in that he brought more attention to Tennessee than his position indicated. I think Barnes is as much in debt to Tennessee for his success as we are to him. Summitt started with nothing. Tony, with nothing. Tennessee, as mentioned by many pundits, was a sleeping giant in basketball. Pearl unlocked that and UT fans wanted more. Barnes, by his own admission was shocked by how much Tennesseee cared about bball. Resources and a fan base that will support you like a blueblood. UT is 3rd in national attendance behind only UK and UNC. Barnes has a chance to cement his legacy in that group, but that’s only going to happen with a F4.

Neyland, Summitt, Vitello, Barnes
Obviously, my post was based on more than W/L outcomes. Also based on my personal opinion. CTV is easily the best baseball coach at UT but his impact and legacy will be limited. Not a bad argument for CPS to be even # 1, but again, this is an OPINION board.

Do your own research. It's easy to find if you care about the facts. Google some of those details I gave you. You will find every bit of it. How was it sabotage if Craft, a junior in HS and ineligible for those kinds of visits, reported his violation to the NCAA. It doesn't matter why he did it or who might have gotten in his ear. Months after Craft reported it, Pearl called him against directives not to call him, and freaking asked him to lie about it. What is it about you that repeated facts never sink in for you? Hey, but let's run our offense through Jalen Carey

We do know Pearl is a sleazeball. Glad he he showed his colors after the BBQ and we fired his ass. He's a POS. Amazing my ass
He even lied about it being a BBQ. It can’t be a BBQ without a pig and we know Pearl wasn’t cooking a hog.. Or he’s lying about bigger things.

This will be my last response to you ever. You’re a massive troll. You’re on ignore.

Is this supposed to be blue font?

My in laws 'BBQ' all the time with no pork in sight. I call it grilling. They call it BBQing. Heck, they even call their grill a BBQ.

Well, if you aren’t cooking on wood, it’s not barbecuing. That’s just the origin of the word, unfortunately. The pork part is southern tradition. No blue font.

So? I didn’t bring up the moral equivalence. I’m just responding to it. We are very lucky to have Barnes. We were also wrong to fire Pearl. Those two things are completely seperate. Why some feel the need to attempt to revise history is beyond me. I garauntee you they were thrilled with Pearl at the time.

You did bring up Barnes' talking to UCLA in a "oh yeah well he did this!" way, and I'm pointing out even the thing you are dinging Barnes for as proof that Barnes isn't a saint that Pearl also did numerous times here. So if it's a negative for Barnes, then it's a negative for Pearl.

We were not wrong to fire Pearl. If you really think that then you clearly didn't understand the situation we were in. It's quite funny you say that then accuse others of revising history.

Also amusing is you literally just talked about how things care seperate but then tell me I was thrilled with Pearl at the time. Yes....2 things can be true. I can be thrilled with what Pearl did and also say but he f'ed up and deserved to be fired. One has nothing to do with the other. I can also say yeah he was great here and did more than than any coach before him given the situation; I can also say he was and still is a scum bucket.

You call other people a troll but then you post this garbage. You accuse everyone else of doing the very things you're doing. So you're either a troll or you aren't very smart. I could go either way.

Barnes wouldn't have spoken to UCLA at all if Fulmer had been worth a damn as an Athletic Director, so I put that more Phil than CRB.

For all the BS that ADDW catches, I guaran-damn-tee you that if he'd been AD in 2019, all that CRB/UCLA drama never happens

Pretty sure he’s both. Regardless he’s on Ignore so I don’t have to care what he says.

This: people act like it was just about the BBQ when the reality is that it was about the lying and the attempted cover-up. If Bruce would've simply been honest and reported the BBQ, we would've gotten a slap on the wrist and he'd have still been coaching here.
Probably true, but one never knows what other trouble he would have gotten us into. He is a snake and we are fortunate that he was given his no-show .
