agree with in between. As I've stated before, I think Pearl Jam is far more influential to the music scene and it was just going to be a matter of time (and a short matter of time at that) before PJ overtook Nirvana as "the" grunge band. Cobain's death just let Nirvana go out at their peak and while many people mistakenly call them the originators of grunge, they were the ones that began making grunge mainstream so they'll always have that.
I'm personally thankful it turned out like it did (sad that Cobain died though) because I'd take the Foo Fighters over Nirvana every single day of the week and twice on Sundays and holidays.
wow. You are either 15 years old or simply have no clue. I hope you are just young.

Nirvana was a great band IMO. Kurt Cobain was not the most talented guitarist, but he wrote great songs and had an awesome voice. Nirvana pretty much put the nail in the coffin of 80s hair metal, and any band that does that is okay in my book. I don't think Nirvana has aged as well as some other bands, but at that time and place, Nirvana was some of the best music round. Not as good as Alice in Chains, but good nonetheless and very influential. You wonna talk about overrated- talk about Pearl Jam.
Jim Morrison was a drunk, rambling fool with great hair, a pretty face, and a sultry voice. He was the perfect individual in the perfect time for a band like The Doors. However, he was who brought the band down as fast as they rose up. They were a decent, timeless band, but Jim's death immortalized them.
Same goes for Nirvana, except my opinion of Kurt is higher than that of Morrison's. Kurt was not a great singer, lyricist, or guitarist. He was just the perfect pop grunge
frontman. Nirvana's material is really good if
that's your shtick, but they will never rank
among the top 100 for me.
I listen to Nirvana regularly, but I'd much rather have some Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, STP, Soundgarden, PJ Harvey, and Alice in Chains (pre-DuVall era, of course).
