Nine programs that won a national title but never will again

Gets my vote for post of the day!

We heard this every year under richt,is it ever going to end?

Richt would have taken last year’s Georgia team where Kirby did. There’s not a doubt in my mind with the leadership they had on that squad. Smart inherited the best situation in college football when he took over, doesn’t get much better than being handed a 10 win team in a talent rich state.

I know its here to stay, but I hate that comment. Sick of hearing about him and his team.

Besides, Georgia won it last year and didn't even play them, so while I'd rather beat him and his hired hands, we could lose to them in the regular season and still go to Atlanta and play someone else.

And I'm sure you know all of this, so you shouldn't have said what you did. :)

Saban will never lose to the Vols

While I would like to agree with you I can't, I think richt was too nice to give his players that final push that Kirby has no problem doing.

Agree.....Richt would have choked away at least 2 games last season; maybe more. He wasn't good at winning the close ones the last several years of his career. He would have definitely lost to Auburn during the regular season as Smart did.....More than likely would have lost on the road at Notre Dame, and the Florida game was always a chokeable game for Richt. I mean jeezus.....He's choking games away left and right at Miami right now. It's UGA, part 2 down there.

Only one on that list that has no chance is BYU. Minnesota is a darkhorse. Getting past Wisconsin is all you need to do to win the west. Then ....who knows.

I'd actually go with Syracuse as the one that has no chance.

New York state is now one of the worst states for recruiting in football. I don't know what recruiting was like in NY in the 80's or the 60's, but I imagine it used to be much better back in Syracuse's heyday. And it's difficult to convince kids from Florida, Georgia, Texas, and California to move to upstate New York to play for a mediocre football program. Syracuse has never had the same cachet as Notre Dame or Michigan, either, so it's just not a very good sell.

Minnesota is a long-shot, but like you said ... win the weak Big10 West and you never know. BYU is also a long-shot, but they've had some pretty strong teams from time to time. I could see BYU having a better shot than Syracuse.

I thought when Tenn won it all in 20 years ago I would see a couple more I was 19 then now nearly 40 and sadly I’m thinking I might not ever see another one.

By the time you were 24, I realized it wasn't going to happen under that regime.
