Nine programs that won a national title but never will again

It’s a sobering task winning the national title. A lot of factors have to be met just to have a decent shot. And in addition, there’s being lucky at the right time. Playing Bama every season can be viewed as a liability, it should be seen as a opportunity. Competition with Georgia and Florida should also be seen as opportunity. National stages where Tennessee has the opportunity for sixty minutes to take its respect, to win its glory. It has to start down in the mud and sweat of preparation, Saban has it right. You must practice like a champion every day, every rep until it’s all you know. Until it’s automatic. Then follows an expectation of victory, winning has to be an attitude.

Can we get a mod with a can of troll spray over in aisle 3?

One slipped through the cracks.
Beware of uncle Lou. He will even put on his logo that he is a Tennessee fan, and still come around in all different shapes, forms, and sizes.:eek:lol::thud:

A silly article. If we get to the position where we beat all 3, we are in the playoffs. At some point that will indeed happen, I know this because it has happened before and we are on their level in terms of prestige. I remember a time not long ago (2003-2004 range) reading an article wondering whether Alabama would ever beat Tennessee again. A year or two later they showed that the answer was "Yes".

The Vols don't need to beat all three, but they will need to beat 2 of 3 to have a shot at the playoff. Bama got in last year with an 11-1 record.

If the Vols go 11-1 while playing in the SEC they will almost certainly be one of the 4 teams in the playoff with a chance to get in the playoff and win it all.

What is less likely is the Vols going undefeated and winning the SECCG and winning 2 playoff games. That may NEVER happen again, and NEVER is a long time.

Apparently, Sunny is based on location and not disposition. It’s obvious you’re trolling and trying too hard at it. Georgia fan, IMO. “ever”? Really?! Lol

When’s the last time Tenn has won the East? Or won 10 games ? Lol I’ll wait

We won’t win anything if merit until the school gets serious about football. For now we’re just content to keep hiring “up and comers” hoping to strike gold. Gold is very rare.

Maybe they’re right. Who the hell knows.

Agree, but I choose to consider the source before taking the article seriously.

Just a couple of observations;

This article was authored by 1 person, a 29 year old named Matt Hladik. He’s a graduate of Rutgers, and spent 4 years covering high school football in New Jersey. He’s proud of the fact that he hangs out in bars and rubs elbows with athletes. This article is one person’s opinion, so I take it for what it’s worth....

I would like to see UT win the Eastern division, and that would be a good start..

Since 1992, Tennessee has beaten Florida and Georgia in the same season 4 times.

It’s a problem.

That said, Tennessee is capable of winning at the highest level

Florida and UGA aren't some insurmountable problems if this program can ever get a coach worth a damn in here.

Butch Jones, as awful as he was, owns wins over both programs.

A Vols fan would know. :)

Exactly! Did anyone here even have to look that up? It's 2007 for both. I don't mind rivals posting here and expressing opinions that are against Tennessee... it's when they pose as Vol fans that it becomes annoying. The sunny delight guy is one of the most obvious posers/trolls I've seen on here.

Suddenly Georgia is this college football powerhouse that is unbeatable and dominant. Amazing what one great season can do for you.

Even within their own article they acknowledge that Tennessee is capable of recruiting at a high level. Their biggest argument seems to be our competition but will Saban be at Alabama forever... and at least in the last 4 years, Florida hasn't been much better than us. And Freak is right, you can't say "never" about anything when it comes to sports. There is a first year franchise in the NHL Western Conference Finals right now (Vegas).

I have never heard of this site... but they are trolling us. Ignore it.

Yep. Even the Cubs broke the jinx a couple of years ago. Tennessee will win another one within the next few years. When does Saban retire?
