What can they sell besides a comparable football program? Our other major sports blow theirs away
Penn State's 10-year partnership with Adidas is reportedly worth around $300 million, encompassing cash, product, and athlete opportunities, though the official financial terms have not been disclosed by either party. This landmark agreement is set to begin in July 2026, replacing a long-standing relationship with Nike.

Link. “…reportedly…” , “not disclosed…”

Only thing i could find was a quote that “Tennessee got a deal similar to Penn State’s”. That point of reference seemed strange but did add verity to the claim, imo.

“Adidas is making an unprecedented commitment to Penn State: delivering record investment in our department, groundbreaking NIL and marketing opportunities, and access to technology and innovation that no other program can match,” Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft said in a statement.

I found that from the New York Times

We will probably have to wait until 2026 to find out how much UT and PSU are worth to Adidas.

Why do I have a feeling that they got a bigger deal than we did and will now be their "marquee" brand. Anybody else wondering about this?
If so, bad deal cause Tennessee AD has national appeal with Men’s & Women’s basketball, Baseball & softball. Penn State offers zero there.

That said, the Nike deal was so bad for Tennessee & I’m sure Penn St was far better with Nike. That could have been a starting point in negotiations

I read that article and a couple of things jumped out to me:

#1 All Penn State athletes will become Adidas ambassadors. Do Tennessee athletes become Adidas ambassadors as well?

#2 Universities are limited to $20.5 Million for athlete pay across all sports. Does this hurt UT due to having so many programs?

These are my two biggest concerns. If anyone has some answers, please reply.

Not really. The two things that matter in an apparel deal are enrollment/alumni base and football performance. The other sports move very little product overall.

Tennessee’s enrollment is about 30,000. Penn State’s is 85,000. That makes them a more valuable brand for an apparel partner.

1. All Tennessee athletes have the same opportunity to sign up for the brand ambassador deal that Penn State athletes do.

2. Tennessee has fewer varsity sports than Penn State. That said, most schools are only sharing that revenue with sports that generate revenue (not a profit, just positive revenue). At Tennessee, that’s football, basketball, baseball and softball.

i live in the Mid-Atlantic and you see a PSU bumper magnet here and there and maybe see crusty old dudes rocking a sweater into your nearest Martin's but i have not found a single person willing to admit to me they're fans of the ninny lions

I see maybe a16th as much UT magnets all the damn way up here
