Nike Jersey's leaked

Part of that legacy has always been Lady Vols-only fans who wear different colors, sport different logos, and generally seem to define themselves as fans by aggressively NOT being fans of the men's teams. That's a branding disaster.

I started out sympathetic to those on the pro-Lady Vols side of the debate, but the more posts I see like this one from fans who complain that getting rid of the baby blue trim would be somehow "murdering [Pat Summitt's] legacy," the more I'm convinced that getting rid of the separate Lady Vols branding is the right thing to do.

Me too. Football and men's basketball revenue foot the bill for everything else and making a separate brand that sells to 10% of the fan base or less makes zero sense.

The Toilet Store. It will make the uniforms look better in your eyes.

This all day.

If they stop supporting the LV because of this, well bye.

When all the 5 stars tweet how much they love it, he'll calm down.

When the 5*s start committing because of what the uniforms look like, Everyone will be on board... Until then, those gray things are just cheesy gimmicks. We used to be better than to lower ourselves to that level. Apparently we are not anymore.

Alabama hasn't sold their uniform souls and they recruit better than anyone so I don't buy the bs about these uniform gimmicks being about recruiting. Instead, they are all about one thing: selling Nike products. The more uniforms and combinations Nike roles out, the more morons on this board will buy their merchandise. It's no different than any other clothing company that roles out new fashions each season. But most of you are too near-sighted to see these gimmicks for what they are -- ploys to get you to part with your money on new merchandise.

The only good news is that UT gets a royalty each time one of you saps buys new Nike gear.

My advice would be to buy some good quality and classic Vol gear from the good Tennesseeanns at Volunteer Traditions. Their gear is timeless and classic, and will last you through each of the cheesy Nike iterations that take place in the coming years to the uniforms, colors and styles of our Alma mater.

I wish Missouri and Texas A&M never came here. And I wish a lot of other things too. One of them being these grey smokey jerseys never came about we don't need them. We are not Oregon, Missouri, or ohio state.

The problem isn't really who generates the revenue. The problem is that having a separate brand essentially creates separate loyalties, meaning that it's less likely that, say, women's BB fans will buy football tickets, or that football fans will go watch women's basketball. It means that marketing aimed at one group falls flat with the other. It probably means that women's BB fans buy less merchandise than they otherwise would. There's just no reason to turn your fanbase base into two separate markets, which is what separate branding for men's and women's sports does.

I didn't think it was that big a deal until I saw all the passion on the pro-LV side to keep the brand differentiation. Which just demonstrated what an obvious and inevitable business move it is to get rid of it.

well all three of those teams have been doing pretty well lately. :)

So what we are saying is that Alabama has never worn alternate jerseys?
