Nico to UCLA?

Easier said than done. Hard for folks in our culture to understand, but in many others, you never go against the wishes of your parents. Family is THE most important thing other than God. In many of those cultures, the children are the parents retirement plan. They are expected to support and obey their parents until they pass away. And they don't consider a nursing home or assisted living to be options. When the parents can no longer live on their own, one of their children takes them in to care for them. I can keep going, but I think it's pretty clear that it's not so easy a thing to go against your parents in a lot of other cultures. I can imagine what Nico is feeling if things are, indeed, the way I suspect they are. I pray he's strong enough to make it through all this. What's sad is that the parents truly don't see it. They think they're guiding their kids and making decisions that will help them be successful in this life. They won't understand the importance of happiness as part of "being successful" until it's too late. Wish the kid the best.
Regardless of culture, a parent's responsibility includes teaching a child to take responsibility for their actions and following through when you make a commitment (accountability). Don't see that in Nico. His father has failed his son miserably. Nico shows no signs of being a responsible adult. He is a product of his upbringing and, at age 20, that's probably never going to change. The die is cast.

Don't think there's ever been in the history of college football any other player who is carrying this large of a blinking neon sign blaring "caveat emptor." Lotsa baggage on the way to UCLA.

Been out of the loop for a bit. Has there been a report on the number agreed to? Not that it matters with Nic/Nico. Also, did the UCLA transfer from App St pop his paperwork yet? Of is he content to battle it out and make his 1.3M and work on his tan?

The NFL is full of mercenaries. CFB is heading that way. NIL deals are one year at a time. It does not seem like there was anything binding on either party when he left. His timing is what makes him a villain.

Somebody will pay him to play. Too bad it will be a big pay cut for him.

Statement from Nico-
"First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for His grace, for continuing to bless my family, and for allowing me to live out my passion each and every day.To the amazing people in Knoxville, thank you for embracing and uplifting me throughout my time there. I’ll be forever thankful for the support you showed me every step of the way and I’ll always cherish the relationships I built there and the memories I created with my brothers. I believe with all my heart that I gave my all as a Volunteer. I’m truly grateful for the time I had at UT.My journey at UT has come to an end. This decision was incredibly difficult, and truthfully, not something I expected to make this soon. But I trust God’s timing, and I believe He’s leading me where I need to be.Even though, this chapter is ending, a new chapter has begun and I am committed to UCLA!"

However...with the alternative of a "quid pro quo" not possible...therefore the outcome became "ex parte". I'm SURE Nico and his father will receive "quantum meruit".

He can eat an entire bag of dicks

I grew up in SoCal and got the hello out as soon as I was an adult. Then, I have spent 30 years in the Denver area and have witnessed the Californication of CO. I'll be moving to Knox this summer, thank you God. Nico is just a product of the coastal CA environment. This is SOP SoCal behavior. There are always anomalies, but he is the standard. It is sad. The NIL is not changing college ball for the better IMO. Good luck. Nico. Maybe look up Manning when you want some real adult advice on how to act on a football field.
