UCLA is already polling their donors to gather up what Nico will need to stay. It ain't looking good so he's probably going to be one and done at UCLA.
😂 at UCLA donors.

It is a palpable demonstration of how stupid fans can be and how ****ed up athletics are. He hasn't played down 1 and they are already talking about getting him more money. It's both pathetic and hilarious.

Based on the assessment of Madden's OC/QB coach at Ark for his spring practice debut, he likely is already far ahead of Nico in realizing potential far quicker. As I was reading that, I was thinking we should have had a QB like that last year that can just see open receiviers that weren't even in the called play and hit them when the progressions were shut down. And this while not even really knowing the plays yet. Yet, he showed he is also under dad's big thumb by packing up and leaving as soon as Nico was a done deal.

Reading Ark's assessment of him, I don't see how Nico could truly beat him out. NIL is what'll rank Madden behind Nico.

More money to stay past the 1 season is what I took from the article. Not to bump this seasons offer.

Not to mention that Los Angeles, beyond the state income tax, is usually calculated as being 75-100 percent more expensive to live (depending on source and how you spend your money), which means that Nico and his family needed to make at least 4-4.25 million to have the same purchasing power as living in Knoxville.
There were rumors of tax trouble from UT's NIL already. So, if that was true, you also gotta factor in catching up un-made payments and keeping IRS at bay. Plus mom and dad both quit their jobs to leach off their boys. Those two kids won' see a dime. Dad is gonna skull f$%k them both.

.....and this has been my suspicion. That he felt like his starting role at UT might be in jeopardy considering his slow progress and 2 nipping at his heels not to mention the 5* coming in January for '26 season. I think he felt the pressure and asked for more money than initially agreed to "get it while it's good". I also think CJH had a gut feeling about his ability / upward trajectory and balked at the $4M demand. There are others out there worth it, but he isn't. If his performance would have been close to others in this stratosphere, UT would have paid it. But business people being who they are, did some analysis and figured he wasn't a good investment.
Lackluster performance compared to expectatios and time spent in offense. Plus, rumors of his difficulty in honoring his NIL commitments for the money he took and the pissed off donors. When talk of Nico demanding a raise began circling, his lack of work ethic likley caused the HC phone to start ringing and being told he wasn't getting another dime for that kid. Hence the quick run to say they were moving on from Nico.
