Nico “Tampering” - told you so

Then you wrongly called it “tampering.” You might want to curtail your victory lap.
Nope - I said there were conversations and I couldn't confirm which schools reached out first and which conversations the family was driving, but as you and everyone else now knows, Nico and his dad were actively involved from the beginning. If you want to deflect and focus on the definition of a single word as opposed to my telling everyone here what was going on back in January, have at it, Professor.

Every fan base says stuff like this when transfers leave.

I bet you were glad to get Hendon Hooker.
Is that just a teeny bit hypocritical?
I said it when he ran out of bounds in Fayetteville without throwing the ball with zeroes on the clock last October, but you do you.

Completely different situations, bub. And take a moment to look at the comments on some of the other transfer threads of players who didn't try to hold the team and staff hostage for the past several months...plenty of well-wishing and acknowledgement that those players didn't want to ride the bench behind others in those threads.

Did Hooker leave VT because of a desire for more money (despite markedly average performance)? No.

Did Hooker leave VT because of his father's meddling in his affairs to the point even his "representation" began to distance himself from the clown show? Nope.

Did Hooker leave VT after being a no-show to team events, including the spring game? Nah.

Apples to oranges, man.

Hooker came here to play for UT. He sure didn't come here for the NIL. If anyone needed to have been paid it was him.

Hooker came here because VA tech had a worse team and he wanted to improve his NFL draft position. In other words, it was at least partially about the money.

The UT NIL situation didn't really start until after he left.

You may as well say that Condredge Holloway didn't come to UT for the money.

Most athletes that have their sites on the NFL wants to improve their draft stock..Hooker didn't come here for the NIL money, Nico did.

Everyone knows that the NIL didn't start until after Hooker left....That is why you telling the poster that he was probably happy that Hooker transferred here is Pineapples and Bananas.

No, it isn't. It's still a transfer. The "why" doesn't matter. Either transfers are traitors or they are not. You can't have it both ways.

Read your title.

I was thinking about the op being right about this when the news came out about what he said months ago and hoped the thread would pop again for a told you so. Felt good moment for you.

Then you tagged everyone who tried to call you out in a piss tacky fashion….fail.

Yes I did, to watch each of them eat crow.

Sorry you don't approve of the method. You do you.

You were clearly right about the conversations happening. But that word “tampering” does matter a little bit. We all know it’s happening though.

I’m here for it dude. People on this site want to act like they know everything about the sport and whenever they are proven wrong they get upset over someone beating their chest about it. Screw ‘em. You do you man.

Clearly you were right about this. A little conceited maybe, but I can understand when people are hurling insults at you because they don’t want to believe it’s true

If you take their phone calls during the season, you've been tampered with and the schools making contact are trying to influence your then current play on the field as much as what takes place after the season. The FBI should get involved as you know the gamblers know who is taking phone calls and who's not. It has to be good for 3 points a game either way.

Not sure what point you're making about Holloway but he came to UT because he wanted to play QB and he had few options back then. If he were chasing NFL aspirations, he probably would have chosen Bama instead and become a DB.

That’s right.. UT was the only team in the SEC that would let him play QB and history was made

Being offered millions of dollars to come to a school to play a sport isn't being a "college student" is it?

We're putting together deals worth millions to get college students? How dumb would that be?
False dilemma. The athletes are also students. You act as if the two things are mutually exclusive. They clearly are not.
