Nico “Tampering” - told you so

Yep.

If he’s not requesting paperwork to enter the portal I doubt very seriously there was much reaching out on his end. Really fun to drag kids through the mud for some people like the OP.
LOL. Feel free to chime in again after you polish off that heaping pile of crow.

I'll agree on that and disagree with the original poster about that but it doesn't mean he didn't hear what he posted.

The same poster got the Saban retiring correct and doubled down on it when he got roasted here. He never backed off on what he said he'd heard and took a victory lap when he was right. It's not like he posts a bunch of "I heard this" threads.

@VolCalls: what's up with dragging Nico for just being contacted and talking? A bunch of people in businesses get headhunter calls and talk whether they're interested in leaving or not. What's up with the "he can hit the door" attitude?
Now you know.

Nico spoke directly with at least three schools, including Georgia and Oregon during the season about what it would take for him to transfer. 100% facts.
If he approached them, it's not tampering.
The tampering rule is unenforceable, and illegal under the law anyway. Just like every other bogus NCAA rules the courts have dismantled

It's no different than corporate recruiting.

Thinking ahead, Nico has more leverage in the Spring if he wishes to "check the waters" officially because UT will see the other guys in camp vs him. Heupel will really want to keep him at that point.

I wonder if he reached out or the schools reached out. He can't really prevent other schools reaching out and he's crazy not to talk with them when millions may be on the table, but if HE reached out, the Spring may be ugly.

Tampering with players is almost certainly happening and we're probably doing it too, so just saying "it didn't happen" to arguably our best and most critical player doesn't make sense to me.

With the money the guy at Duke got, the QB NIL market probably had a "salary jump" and that's going to make a lot of QBs listen to what's out there and some are probably asking what's out there.
Nico was never arguably our best player. He was the weak link of the team last year.

Pro sports is not the same as the corporate world. Pro sports have an additional set of rules that keeps the sport credible and competitive. NFL teams do get penalized for tampering. College football is now a pro sport and needs to implement some controls or it is going to lose all appearance of credibility and fairness.

YES, & your characterization of the transfer portal as a "whore house" gains credibility every moment.

Hey now. No need to denigrate "houses of ill repute" in that manner. They may be bawdy houses, but they have set rules which all must abide by-unlike NIL

Source that knows the what’s happening in the athletic departments of Bama, Miami, Georgia, and Oregon. A source that had information disclosed by all of those programs that is punishable by the NCAA. And this source that has all those programs trust is loose lipped enough to share? Yeah you’re FOS. Not kind of or a little but completely FOS.

Who initiated the contact? Them or us?

Because I would guess that Big Nic has been working the phones non stop since he saw dollar signs.

I’d love to heard how hard Kirby Smart laughed after hearing their demands while watching the video of Vols games leading up to the Tenn-Ga game.

It is not tampering if Daddy Nic called them. And if Dan Lanning notified CJH, as reported, that certainly is not tampering.

Uhm... I get that people are upset with him.

But we don't win 10 games with Gaston Moore at QB.

Nicos running converted many crucial 1st downs that kept drives alive.

The Vanderbilt game! We were down 14-0 quick and Nicos feet got our offensse going

The Alabama were he converted a crucial 3rd and long where he juked the Bama safety and ran for 15 yards.
