Fort Knox? We don't need one, but it can be cool to call something a cool nickname, just for the hell of it. Especially if it has more than one meaning

Neyland is the name it doesn't need some cheesy nickname. If it was up to me I would bring back the cannon they use to fire after a score and the TN Walking horse.

Agreed with all of this! Neyland Stadium is the name and it doesn't need some gimmicky nick name.

Also I LOVE the TN Walking Horse and wish they would make it a permanent pre-game tradition for every home game. The cannon was awesome!

The big problem with that horse is that it absolutely annihilates the ground.

"the navy base", in relation to the vol navy. Or the "flagship"

Being members of the Pride of the Southland taught us to stay away from those hooves too haha. It would leave hoof prints in the turf that were at least 4 inches deep. A beautiful, but massive animal.

I heard the horse fell to often. Dangerous for expensive animals. Remember when Texas Tech horse ran into the wall and died right there? Had to drag it off to horror of kids in stands.

I always thought it had a great name... "Neyland". That is good enough for me and pays homage to the man who created Tennessee football. Let the other's call their stadium whatever silliness they want.

Although I applaud your effort, I am glad you didn't get into the nickname business. ;)

Haha...me too!

I'm going to agree with the Neyland people. It's not Robert Neyland Memorial Stadium or U.S. Cellular, Pilot Neyland Stadium...

It's Neyland.

All you need to say. One word.

The only one I have ever heard that I thought might stick was one writer who was describing the experience of a football weekend on campus.....something like ... pay your respect to The Hill... "then you walk on down to Neyland Round". Sounded kind of like what a name might be for a stadium in the British Isles....named in 1755 or something.
