I get the whole bit about the horse wreaking havoc on the field, no one wants that. We could always make a track out of sand behind the UT bench for the horse to run down at the start of each game and then the grounds crew could just rake the sand smooth. Too many teams use big animals as part of their tradition and figure out a way to make it happen. (FSU, Oklahoma with their wagon and Texas for example)

agree but considering they wouldnt come off any money for a real coach I dont see how the powers would come off money for a horse track. Maybe there's more to it that we know.

I think it comes down to the old training method trainers use to use when training the horses, it has been called barbaric and cruel which is not a positive thing. There are trainers out today who train these horses in a way that causes the animal no harm.

I think "Grandma's House" is appropriate.

Then we could make up a fight song about over the river and through the woods.

Agreed with all of this! Neyland Stadium is the name and it doesn't need some gimmicky nick name.

Also I LOVE the TN Walking Horse and wish they would make it a permanent pre-game tradition for every home game. The cannon was awesome!

I agree...... Strolling Jim...... Now that's old school.....

BTW when I was young it was often refered to as
THE HILL.
