A very classy and loyal young man that wore the right color of orange. I love and respect Paul Bain, But he and Trey Smith would have to call it a draw in the respect and admiration that they have from Volnation. Good luck to that young man, hope you live your life to the fullest. You will always be one of ours.

Wish we had a team full of people like this. What an outstanding young man. I really hope he gets his health fixed. I wish him the best regardless of what he plans to do with his life.

If we had a full team of him, Butili, Bain (because of his heart for this team and state), Banks (without fumbling issues), JG (yes him, different thread to go to debate quarterbacks), Chandler, Jordan, JJ, callaway, etc, we would be a team that consistently fights and pull one our way.

If this young man never plays another snap of football, he will always have a special place in the hearts of the people of his home state and be a VFL. Contrast that with another former well known player of our home state who quit UT in the middle of the season and is now playing for another school. Even if he does go to the NFL, do you think he'll ever be welcomed back by most people in his home state? One will always have a home one will have a hard time but just shows to go how they conducted themselves as collegiate UT football players will affect them the rest of their lives.

I hope he gets better. And I hope he is able to live out his dream to play and finish his UT career and what ever dreams he has I pray he full fills them.

Trey Smith has worked hard and earned all the respect he gets.

He's a outstanding young man of dignity, respect, intelligence and class.

We all hope and pray that he'll soon return to excellent health and can play footVol for us again.

We hope he can graduate and live his dream of playing in the NFL too.

More than anything we all hope and pray that Trey can return to good health and stay healthy and live a wonderful, successful and happy life because we know that even if he can never again play footVol he'll become a great mentor and inspiration to others that come after him because he's just that kind of young man.

His parents should be mighty proud because they raised a fine son.

I'm thankful that we were allowed to have him as a true VFL and that we had him on our footVol Team as long as we can.

May God bless, heal and comfort Trey and his family forever.

VFL...GBO!!!

I spoke with a doctor at work yesterday ( he was moaning and groaning about Malzahn, yup, is an Auburn homer). I mentioned Trey and he shrugged Trey's illness of and implied that his problem is not difficult to remedy. I just said "I hope so".

I'm just curious if he will return or will just be good and healthy all the way around

Easy to remedy?

You can't play high level football with blood clots in your lungs. Period.

Why are their blood clots? That's the first question. If you can figure that out and remedy the underlying issue, great. If not, you need to be on blood thinners. You need to be on blood thinners for at least three to six months after multiple PEs in your lungs. And maybe much longer, depending on the underlying issue.

High level football is high risk for head injuries. Activity that is high risk for head injuries while on blood thinners? Not a good idea.

This is anything but easy to remedy.

Unless it's from illegal steroid use. Then he should be able to avoid future clots from not doing that anymore. But that leads to eligibility issues.

My guess is that Smith has played his last game at UT. I hope I'm wrong. I hope he's back next year, healthy, and that he dominates. But that will surprise me.

Pruitt has turned all these boys to men. I feel like I’ve seen so many of these guys mature so much in the last year. Best wishes to trey. Stay strong young man.
