If DB is not selected through the first 15 picks, then some team is getting an absolute steal. He will be worth every dollar attahched to his contract.

Don't shoot the messenger, but Kamara isn't going in the first round. RB is insanely deep this year and it's become one of the least important (i.e., easily fungible) positions in the sport. There have only been a handful of 1st round RBs in the past decade, and Kamara wasn't even a starter on his own college team. Kamara's a very good player, but I don't know where projections like this are coming from.

Almost every so-called "draft expert" (Todd McShay, Mike Mayock, Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks, etc.) is currently projecting Alvin as a first round pick. If they are all saying this, then they must be hearing it from someone in the league that a lot of teams like Kamara as a first round RB. That is where it's coming from.

As long as Alvin runs well at the combine he'll be a first round pick. He's that good.

Or like a lot of people they're guessing

The draft is a complete wildcard and mocks are completely worthless like preseason rankings

Wouldn't surprise me if there were more to this story.
Not at all saying he's a bad person.

Actually as we get closer to the draft there is a lot less guessing and a lot more real information.

We'll know after the combine if Alvin is a surefire first rounder.

Mock Draft

Pick No. 19
TB
Alvin Kamara
RB
Tennessee
The Bucs can’t rely on Doug Martin any longer; Kamara is a three-down back who would fit perfectly in this offense.

Pick No.22
MIA
Derek Barnett
DE
Tennessee
Barnett won’t test very well, but he is extremely productive and plays with a relentless motor.

I posted this, along with a picture, in the Kamara to Green Bay thread and it pretty much got debunked, immediately. It's from NFL.com (Daniel Jeremiah) & someone replied that Washington would never take an offensive lineman for their first pick. I believe they said the mock draft was "debunked", or something like that.

Edit: Yankee Vol said the list was "invalid" due to the Redskins taking an O-lineman in the 1st round. That is a valid point, though.

There is no way that the Bucs would pass on Barnett and take Kamara. Their needs in order are safety, WR, DL, TE, RB. Hopefully they will throw open the vault to Eric Berry in free agency. If that happens then DB to Tampa at 19 is a strong possibility.

eh the titans have a bigger vault :)

If you watch his tape and then decide not to draft him because of the 40 he ran in shorts then it's likely you aren't a successful team anyways

In the words of Tony Dungy and what made him a successful coach "film doesn't lie" DB will be just fine in the NFL and those teams that will pass on him I'll feel sorry for

Yeah, I definitely don't want the Jags drafting him! Not only have they done nothing with the very talented players they have gotten the past couple of years, but they're also the Titans rival. Barnett to Titans? He's definitely shown he could play in a 3-4 defense, but he's a natural 4-3 DE. Anyway, the Titans are in much more need of DB's and a true number one WR!

3 RB's going in the first round would be a change from recent drafts.

Doesent mean anyone is guaranteed to be picked at any number.

Remember when Darius Hayward Bay was picked in the top 10 just because he was the fastest guy in the draft?

Mocks don't mean jack

4 RBs will go in the first round this year.

Fournette
Cook
McCaffrey
Kamara

And if not for the off-field issues, Joe Mixon would also be a first round pick. So that would have made it 5 first round RBs. I said 2 years ago this would happen. And we're close to seeing at least 4 RBs going in the first round of the 2017 draft.

Has anyone heard a recent 40 time on Kamara?

I was half joking (hence the smiley). But the Skins need help on the other side of the ball.

disagree. he's not been asked to do anything that would translate in to a 3-4. he's not a stand up OLB, and he's not a 3 down linemen either. he's dropped in coverage a few times, which he'd be asked to do as a 4-3 DE at times in the NFL as well.

his skill set is suited best at a 4-3 DE. if a team that runs a 3-4 drafts him, then i'd immediately wonder about their scouts and talent evaluators, and the DC....

it'd be a complete mis use of his skill set.

No, we'll know after the draft if Alvin is a sure fire first rounder. He could run great at the combine but if there isn't a team at the back end of the 1st round that doesn't value AK as much as another RB or if RB isn't a need at that point for a handful of those teams, then he will not be a "surefire first rounder".

just don't see Kamara as a 1st rounder.....for many reasons...more like a 3rd rounder.....

Barnett is a 1st rounder.....sure he can improve in some areas...but every player knows that...

teams will be very sorry for taking Garrett over Barnett...:salute:
