Don't shoot the messenger, but Kamara isn't going in the first round. RB is insanely deep this year and it's become one of the least important (i.e., easily fungible) positions in the sport. There have only been a handful of 1st round RBs in the past decade, and Kamara wasn't even a starter on his own college team. Kamara's a very good player, but I don't know where projections like this are coming from.
Almost every so-called "draft expert" (Todd McShay, Mike Mayock, Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks, etc.) is currently projecting Alvin as a first round pick. If they are all saying this, then they must be hearing it from someone in the league that a lot of teams like Kamara as a first round RB. That is where it's coming from.
As long as Alvin runs well at the combine he'll be a first round pick. He's that good.

Or like a lot of people they're guessing
The draft is a complete wildcard and mocks are completely worthless like preseason rankings
Mock Draft
Pick No. 19
TB
Alvin Kamara
RB
Tennessee
The Bucs cant rely on Doug Martin any longer; Kamara is a three-down back who would fit perfectly in this offense.
Pick No.22
MIA
Derek Barnett
DE
Tennessee
Barnett wont test very well, but he is extremely productive and plays with a relentless motor.
If you watch his tape and then decide not to draft him because of the 40 he ran in shorts then it's likely you aren't a successful team anyways
me too.

Actually as we get closer to the draft there is a lot less guessing and a lot more real information.
We'll know after the combine if Alvin is a surefire first rounder.
3 RB's going in the first round would be a change from recent drafts.
Has anyone heard a recent 40 time on Kamara?4 RBs will go in the first round this year.
Fournette
Cook
McCaffrey
Kamara
And if not for the off-field issues, Joe Mixon would also be a first round pick. So that would have made it 5 first round RBs. I said 2 years ago this would happen. And we're close to seeing at least 4 RBs going in the first round of the 2017 draft.

I posted this, along with a picture, in the Kamara to Green Bay thread and it pretty much got debunked, immediately. It's from NFL.com (Daniel Jeremiah) & someone replied that Washington would never take an offensive lineman for their first pick. I believe they said the mock draft was "debunked", or something like that.
Edit: Yankee Vol said the list was "invalid" due to the Redskins taking an O-lineman in the 1st round. That is a valid point, though.
Yeah, I definitely don't want the Jags drafting him! Not only have they done nothing with the very talented players they have gotten the past couple of years, but they're also the Titans rival. Barnett to Titans? He's definitely shown he could play in a 3-4 defense, but he's a natural 4-3 DE. Anyway, the Titans are in much more need of DB's and a true number one WR!

disagree. he's not been asked to do anything that would translate in to a 3-4. he's not a stand up OLB, and he's not a 3 down linemen either. he's dropped in coverage a few times, which he'd be asked to do as a 4-3 DE at times in the NFL as well.
his skill set is suited best at a 4-3 DE. if a team that runs a 3-4 drafts him, then i'd immediately wonder about their scouts and talent evaluators, and the DC....
it'd be a complete mis use of his skill set.
