This is probably a no brainer. I was in the stadium last week scouting out my changed seat locations. For the first time I noticed these white boxes. Obvious something to do with RF, with the plastic dome covering the electronics. Assuming these are the wifi repeaters in the stadium, and I think they have been there a while. I never have tried to connect there. Assuming there is no password? Anybody used these during a game?

They are tracking devices for those who have received COVID 5G injections

Those are most likely 3G/4G cellular antennas.

External 802.1x access points don't usually have that large of a casing on them, even if you go with the "industrial" model.

Make sure you cover your head in tin foil and you should be fine.

Head? I'll be covering my most important organ first.

Now if everybody did that, it might be like "Window" in WWII. Might screw up communications for the whole eastern seaboard.

I also wonder if they're equipping Neyland for using the fancy IBM Cloud or AWS "high tech sports analytics." A little less tin foil, a little more sophisticated data analysis.

@ptcarter where there any noticeable improvements to the stadium. They said some changes would be in effect by Fall of 2021.

Does the stadium have wifi? I thought all those antenna were for cell service, which has improved over the last few years. Was fantastic last year but I didn't see as many people...........on their phones ;)

I took a few pictures.. Didn't really notice anything different much. Mostly just sampling my new seat location (row 1 EE). What comes to mind is an old Neil Young lyric, that he stole from a Rustoleum advertisement.
"Rust Never Sleeps".

At least they aren't using ice in the troughs instead of running water.

Major renovations coming to Neyland Stadium for 2022 season

Vols will seek all avenues to modernize things and added that Tennessee plans to announce those specific changes closer to the start of the 2021 season. While the big renovations won't be in place until the following fall, some minor changes will be implemented in time for the 2021 season.

I'd hoped that one good thing that the diminished-capacity covid season might accomplished, would have been to spur UT to finally spend the cash on updating those disgusting bathrooms; nope.
You mean when they had coaches and stuff taking pay cuts……
