Next year's GT game

Did we play them two years later in Atlanta in 56 as well? My Dad told me a story about Johnny landing 3 punts inside the 10 and I thought it was in Atlanta.
Yep, they were #2 and we were # 3 and Vols won 6-0 in one of the greatest games in Vol history. Unfortunately we couldnt get tix to that game.

GA Tech would have embarrassed us if played this year. Probably worse than the curb stomping we took from Vanderbilt.
Ridiculous take...

Their defense was as bad as ours, and our offense was much better.

They didn't beat anyone good all season long and needed a miracle to beat Wake Forest in OT and Boston College by 2

For all of these worried about next year's game against GT can rest a little easier. Haynes King is gone and their backup QB Philo just entered the portal. UT just needs to find a QB and keep rolling. They are bringing some much back on offense they should hit the ground running next year. It will be the best returning O-line they've had in CJH's tenure. They also will be loaded in all the other positions.
The also lost their OC to Florida. I’m sure their starting quarterback will come from the portal. But it’s unlikely he will be as good as Haynes King.

Haynes King and the OC were a big reason they’ve been as good as they have been lately. Even so, they couldn’t beat out Duke for a spot in the ACC title game this year. Vols roll.

We can't take them lightly and go in there overconfident. We will be their biggest game of the year. They will throw everything including the kitchen sink at us. That being said, I think we will go in there focused on a mission
They play Georgia annually. We are not their biggest game.

Well, GT can dip into the portal for a QB as well, no? Wouldn't count them out just yet. We've still got a lot of work to do in the portal ourselves.
Agree. Underestimate Brent Key-at Bobby Dodd-at your own risk. He's good coach and will have his team ready.

Yes, we probably would have only had 4 possessions in that game with GT going on 12 minutes drives every time they got the ball.

Georgia is and will always be GT's biggest game of the year.

Not worried, but they could find another stud qb

The strength of that teams was Oline. Their Oline coach, Geep Wade (BGA alum) just went to Nebraska.
