Yeah, considering most predicted we would be 7-5 or 8-4. 9-3 is a disappointment.

The same people clamoring that Nico is a bum QB are the same people fearmongering losing Nico in spring would result in a 2-3 win drop off from last year.

Quite the egg on their faces.

If you are having to put Kentucky and Vandy into the rivals category, bless your heart.

Tennessee coaches have always been judged on the record vs Georgia Florida Alabama.

This is not new.
We rarely played georgia before conference realignment. It use to be Alabama, Auburn.

If you were that confident you wouldn’t have left money on the table and you would have taken the spread

Before kick, Tennessee -3.5 at -110. -75 is hardly meaningful difference.

But sure, keep making it out that Vegas just made a mistake on this game and Tennessee was just “lucky”. The fans we have are just wild sometimes. You’re insinuating we fell into a blowout win against a broken roster and coaching staff. 😂😂😂😂😂

Tennessee went 4 years without losing at home to a school not named Georgia in Neyland. That included beating high ranked teams. And we didn’t lose to multiple Top 10 teams this year in Neyland. OU wasn’t even Top 15 I believe.

The multiple losses at Neyland this year was absolutely disgusting. Especially considering the offense went brain rot against OU. We should be sitting around 8-10 spot right now with a 9-2 record.
Please go sit in the Vandy section Saturday.

You’re the one claiming Vegas made a mistake, not me. I’m very clearly saying if you thought the spread of as so far off as you claim, you would have cashed in on it

Yes. Vegas was giving free money for cutting the line down a field goal virtually. Going against Vegas was the easiest bet for a Tennessee game this season. Vegas was dumb with that line. You must have bet the other way. Sad Tennessee fans.

Florida and Miss State are exactly who everyone thought they were…. There has been no surprises that they are where they are currently.

Cherry picking is thinking that a 4-0 MSU and an overrated Napier on the hot seat were actually relevant or quality opponents.
Florida was #15 preseason, so plenty of people thought differently. Lagway was also a preseason Heisman pick.

Napier was 19-19 coming into this season. Florida was all hype. Just like Clemson. The only difference is Dabo is established one of the top coaches in the country having a down year.

1 game different but light years different.

2024:

Winning record vs rivals
Undefeated at Neyland
Playoff bid

2025:
Losing record vs rivals
Multiple losses at Neyland for first time in 4 years
No playoff bid
Man what an awful take. Florida, Auburn and LSU have equal or more talent than we have, all 3 won championships since we have. Yet look at their past few seasons compared to ours. That’s “stinker” quality, not a senior class who has a chance to end their careers with 40 wins in 4 years. And before whole “iTs A 12 TeAm pLaYoFF” dumb ****. How many times since 05 would we have made the 12 team structure if it was in play then? 06 07 and that’s it until 2022. It’s ok to want to be the best team in all 3 phases of the game, just like it’s ok to be wrong in a forum chat 💬 but continue to post soliloquies in response defending your ludicrous claims. Go Vols and happy thanksgiving 🦃

Beg to differ. 9 wins with a shot at 10 with a bowl victory would be enormous and a helluva job by Heupel.

Would it? It seems pretty on par for his record here to his credit.

The doomsdayer around the QB situation in the spring really fed into the prospect that Nico was actually a good QB and that Heupel was lucky with his QB play.

As it turned out, Heupel is every bit as good as he has been in developing and adjusting the offense to any given quarterback and Nico turned out to be a bum. I never understood the panic and 7-5 projections once we lost Nico and landed “Jerry” Aguilar.

Finishing 9-3 is not a red hot into the offseason with how this season panned out.
Not everyone feels like it’s playoffs or bust. Yes, I’m disappointed on how the season has played out, but this team can really build momentum for next season by ripping Vandy‘s heart out then hopefully getting a 10th win with a bowl.

The playoff is 2 years old. Going back to the BCS era to try to make a point is foolish.

We may finish with same record as last year but the seasons will be light years different. That’s not a slander or slight. It’s just the facts.

I think it can take momentum into the offseason but it will be short lived. We have zero idea what the QB position will look like. And that will determine how far the season goes next year. I personally hope Heupel can dip into the portal once again for a QB. Bonus points if he can get a guy with multiple years left of eligibility.

You’re kind of going against what you have been arguing though, you even said earlier, how CJH can make any quarterback serviceable so if that’s what you’re going on I don’t understand your argument.

We have talent in the QB room, especially with FB coming in and then there’s always a chance for the portal. QB is my least concern for next year.

Edit: and who knows if JA will get another year doubtful, but you never know.

Not really. What is an easier path / path of least resistance for the QB spot next year? Rolling out a freshman in Mac or Faizon or getting a guy in the portal who has experience?

Especially given our conference schedule next year.

I have faith that Heupel will make whatever he chooses work but there is an easier path than two freshmen being the starter.

GMAC will be a RS freshman so two years in the system, I think he will make his biggest jump next year.

What did you predict would the record be at the start of the the season?
My expectation was the playoff and 10-2. At 9-3 and no playoff, Heupel essentially barely treads water.

The QB “crisis” in the spring was not that big of a deal once the dust settled and Nico was for sure gone and we got Aguilar.

Turns out Heupel has coach ability at the QB position. That should be a shock to absolutely no one.
