We have never played a worse Florida team this century than we played last night.

We have never played a Florida team with an interim coach this century until this year.

We have never played a Florida team with guys opting out this century until this year.

This game performance and result was a shocker to no one. It went as expected.
Yeah, we have faced a UF team that went 4-8 and they still beat us.

And the margin was a shocker to almost everyone. What was the Las Vegas line on the game?

The 4-8 team is no where near as bad as this year’s Florida team. You must not be old enough to watch football if you think that team comes anywhere close to what should be a 2 win Florida team in 2025 considering how MSU handed them their 3rd win

If you are having to put Kentucky and Vandy into the rivals category, bless your heart.

Tennessee coaches have always been judged on the record vs Georgia Florida Alabama.

This is not new.
Is Vandy not our biggest in state Rival? Did we not used to battle for a beer barrel against Kentucky? They might not be good but those rivalries are relevant enough that the SEC deemed them to be two of our permanent opponents for the next few years. Bless your heart. ❤️

It wasn’t that long ago that beating Kentucky and Vanderbilt was far less given that it has been under Heupel. Remember where we came from. Focus on the trajectory and be happy with the state of the program. Even Saban had years of progression. Progression is inevitable in sports. It’s the maintaining of the bar is what matters. Under Heupel our floor seems to be 8-9 wins. If we continue with that floor eventually he will win a National Championship here. He just needs time.

“Our biggest in state rival”….. who else is there lmao. The fact you can’t even classify Vandy as one of the biggest rivals without invoking “in state” speaks volumes.

It’s Bama, Florida, and Georgia. Just because the SEC office wants to keep some balanced scheduling doesn’t mean our top 3 rivals are anyone different than those 3 teams.

Let me let you in on a secret, Dooley and Butch weren’t fired for losing to Kentucky or Vandy. They were fired for never consistently beating Bama Georgia and Florida.

Tennessee should never lose to Vandy and Kentucky.

Vandy is having one good season yet people are making this out to be a neck and neck rivalry. This will be like the first time both teams have been ranked in matchup in like 50+ years.

JM I side with you on a lot here that isnt popular. Generally, because we both seem to want “more” and don’t like “settling” for status quo or we get sick of “don’t you remember the last 20 years” clown ass garbage that people like to hold as the benchmark.

But you’re wrong on this one. Sure, it wasn’t Florida’s best team, but we’ve managed to lose to teams just as bad or worse in the past. No one with any sense expects a cakewalk in Gainesville regardless of the situation. That Florida team took OM to the wire last week on the road at that.

We played our cleanest, mistake free, complimentary game of the season last night. We could’ve scored 60 but ran clock. Hopefully that’s growth we’re seeing. I to am disgusted with the GA and OU losses, but enjoy the win buddy.

The QB crisis was such an overdramatic reaction. Heupel has a proven track record of being successful having decent offenses regardless of experience or inexperience at QB.
You appear to be one with overdramatic reactions. Our qb nobody had heard of showed up in June, behind 4 new OL, 3 WRs with limited catches and replacing Sampson and we are top 3 in points and ypg. You act as if that was expected. It’s not a video game where none of that matters.
And who gives af if UF sucks. Were we good the 16 years in a row we lost? UF beat Tx and were up on ole Miss in q4 last week. Thats the SEC.

In his time here, Heupel has been solid at putting together serviceable QB’s and having solid offenses regardless of the QB.

From a QB production standpoint, he took Aguilar and put out an offense comparable to Milton’s 2023 offense. The notion we were in some dire straits with Nico leaving is nothing more than fans sh!tting on Heupel’s coaching ability with QB’s.

Josh Heupel fields quality offenses year in and year out. Why? Because he is solid at building offenses around what he has. He just did it for a 5th year in a row. Yet people were a bunch of Panicans because Nico (who everyone thought was a bum QB) left and we got a replacement who had 5+ years experience. Oh the horror!

I’m sorry but the measuring stick of pre Heupel has to stop. It took him 26 games to get us back to national relevance. And in 5 years, he is on the verge of 40 wins in 4 seasons. He elevated the program rather quickly. Measuring his current and future record against the decade of misery is settling.

Heupel deserves all the spoils from his quick Tennessee resurgence. He also deserves the criticisms that come with regressing if that occurs. That 2022 season sped up the schedule of getting back to national relevance. I for one am thankful

You can’t name one Florida team that we played in the Swamp that had a roster of injuries and opt outs along with an Interim coach. That 4-8 squad was started out like 4-1 that year. They ended the season on a 7 game losing streak.

Of course to no surprise to anyone, leave it Lyle Jones to lose to a squad that wound up finishing 4-8

Next week is Big!

We can ruin Vanderbilt's Dream Season!
We can shut up that 28 year old trash talking QB
We can finish 9-3 better than everyone anticipated, and red hot going into the off-season..

Lets Get It!
but he is the best football player in America.....I didn't know that until he informed everyone yesterday at the Kentucky post game press conference

This game should not have been a surprise to anyone.

Florida has an interim coach, starting players opting out, and 3 wins.

This game is going exactly how everyone expected once Napier got fired.

Very pleased to end the streak, but this is the most unsurprising performance to anyone.
Last night was only the third win by UT in Gainesville since 1972. My 23-year-old son said he's been waiting his whole life for this. Don't ruin it for me. I assure you Florida fans count the wins over UT in our "down" years.

I think you’re looking too much into injuries and opt outs. Every team has injuries, including us. Our defense likely looks much different with our two All SEC DBs back in play. I honestly don’t keep up with Florida so couldn’t tell you how impactful the injuries were, other than receivers.

As for opt outs, I think this is something someone has fabricated and you’ve held onto. Another poster mentioned 1 freshmen opted out. I honestly don’t care enough to search for the facts but I feel it’s highly unlikely.

Yes, we can agree the measuring stick shouldn’t be the previous dumpster fire.

10-2 making the playoff to keep from regressing. Sure as hell not losing multiple home games for the first time in 4 years.

The QB situation was such an overrated “crisis”…. At the end of the day, Heupel can manufacture a serviceable QB regardless underclassman or veteran status.

The loss to Oklahoma basically made this season a stinker.

The fact it took moving Florida to end of the regular season so we could face an interim head coach, starters opting out, and injuries just makes this laughable. We are beating the sh!t out of Florida like it was expected. This is the worst Florida team that has ever been compiled in any of the 20 years since the streak started.
If you expect us to finish at 10-2 or better every year and make the playoffs every year, you're not living in reality. Traditionally, that's not who we are.

Traditionally means nothing. The playoff is 2 years old now. College football is a playoff sport now.

10-2 should be the floor for Tennessee under Heupel. That’s to his credit in the work he has done here.

Coaches don’t have to be good/great week in and week out because of the stupid expansion of the playoff. They can hoe hum it in a couple weeks per season and still be alive for the playoff.

I don’t like it because it makes an environment where some teams can contend for a natty who aren’t among the best teams in the country over the course of a season. But what it has also done is dropped the achievements needed to contend for a playoff berth.

It has never been easier for a P4 program to contend for the playoffs. Heupel should feast in this new environment. Odds are he will more times than not.

Tennessee averages near 40 points per game. Florida has a broken roster and interim coaches with one foot out the door. The fact anyone thinks in their right mind a double digit victory against this team last night is a surprise don’t know ball.

The spread was free money. Thanks Vegas.
