Next DC?

Well the fact is that whoever DD hires should be an upgrade and not someone that is already on staff. We should be able to hire a big name that can pull this thing together and get the players we need to compete for a SEC and National Champ>

John Chavis Def. Coord. for $1M/ year guaranteed 5 year deal
Dale Jones - LB Coach

QUit hiring guys that have no attachment to our program. Otherwise, this situation is what we will continue to get, guys jumping ship when their buddies offer them a job somewhere else (Sarkisian)

Just reading in the recruiting forum where Kevin Steele is a possibility now that Hamilton is gone.

Why not Rob Ryan? He is one of the most respected defensive coaches in football. He has an attitude that I think would fit well with college players and probably be a great recruiter as well. He coached at Tennessee St in the early 90's so I dont think he would have a problem living in this part of the country. I dont really hear of him lobbying for HC positions so maybe he would consider it for the right amount of money. It will probably never happen but you never know unless you offer. I'm just throwing out a big name that could be a possibility and not an impossibility.

The same Rob Ryan from the cowboys? whose defense is freaking horrible. You cant be serious. But then hopefully he will be available after Jones fires him.

Not saying Rob is the greatest defensive coach ever but he has accomplished more than Kiffin.

I am still waiting to hear you defend this statement? I would love to hear one accomplishment Rob Ryan has under his belt?

The following are not accomplishments:
1. Son of Buddy Ryan
2. Brother of Rex Ryan
3. Talks a lot of junk that he never backs up

I'll just end the Rob Ryan theory here...he wants a head coaching position at the pro level....it's been quoted and as far as him being a better defensive coordinator than Kiffin I can show you stats where that is all junk. See Rob Ryan's past season with the Cowboys.

My thoughts exactly. Running the defense for the horrible Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns, is not what I'm looking for on a resume.

I would make offers in this order.

1. John Chavis
2. Kevin Steele
3. Jim Washburn (Dline Coach, CLT would run the defense.)
4. Some lower level Dline coach who can bring some energy

Monte Kiffin is one of the greatest DC's of his time. Rob Ryan's only claim to fame is his brother and daddy. His previous DC stops have been Cleveland and Oakland. I don't think he has ever coached a winning team since he left the college ranks in the late 1990's.

I was not saying he has accomplished more than Monte, I was talking about Lane.

I just spoke with my main man Mr. Al K. Wilson. He confirmed that he is coming with the Chief on the 10th!

Post like this just make me wonder whats the age limit on this board.

On another note I really like Raheem Moriss as the New DC.

Amazing how better talent makes you a better coach.

I agree it is more about Jimmys and Joes than X's and O's, but a big name coach like Chavis, helps bring the kind of Jimmys and Joes that we need.

I know he's a Big10 coordinator but does anyone have any input on Pat Narduzzi from Michigan St?

It's almost like the idiots manning this thread don't realize that Chavis presided over the backslide that saw us devolve to almost no ability to stop the run. Never mind that he doesn't recruit.

That does make more sense, but is still highly debatable. Lane did win a NC as an OC as USC. Rob Ryans only real success came as an LB coach for the Patriots in the early 2000's.

UT has 3 openings and their are a lot of quality coaches who are available.

We will be fine. We have a lot to offer and Hart will make sure Dooley has the support he needs to get who he wants.

Expect Dooley to take a run at Steele, Smart, Bumpas, Diaz.

LT has a legit shot at being named DC.

Expect some NFL guys who recently have been let go to get a call or two.

Also, Dooley will look to fill one position with an "elite" recruiter.

Chavis was promoted to DC in 1995. We didn't eactly begin backsliding in 1995, last I heard we won a NC since then.
