New Xbox: Xbox Infinity

Do you even have the first clue about GDDR5?

Well, yes.

Assuming next gen games will be more complex and require faster memory speed, GDDR5 blows DDR3 out of the water in this.

I may be wrong about this, but I think DDR3 has lower latency. This is only an advantage in two cases:

1) The latency of GDDR5 will be too high and an apparent problem.

2) The games don't require the speed of GDDR5 so it doesn't matter.

Both of those are possible, but I'd like to assume that with next gen games come higher poly counts which will require more speed

EA has recently announced that they are dropping that, by the way. I just read it. Great move.

Slashdot

BC started a thread about it a few days ago. If you can't play used games without paying M$ extra, I see no reason they won't bring it back at some point. They may as well get their piece just like M$.

The person who bought the game originally paid for that.

I view the code and access to the servers as something that comes along with EA getting a portion of the sale. They get no such cut when someone buys the game secondhand, so to me they arent out of line in wanting to get that money somehow since GameStop went in and undercut them. What's so outrageous with them wanting to maximize their profits on a game they created?

They'll pull it off just fine. People who are familiar with it are perfectly content paying the $0.13 a day that Live costs.

Xbl is a joke they should of done like Sony and make a free and a pay for one....it could be there downfall if Sony has the same features and its free

hey game developers if you you don't want gamestop Taking your money don't let them sell your game and don't give them exclusive dlc at launch.

No used games would be a hit for me. Not so much because I buy them used. Occasionally, but more so for the re-sell. I've bought some real crappy games in the past and it's nice to be able to get a little return trading them in.

PS4 would have a big bonus if they continue to work with used games.

I've used gamefly for the past 2 years - most of the crap they put out these days isn't worth close to $60. Gamefly makes things much easier.

So now, moving forward, I suppose if you buy a real terd of a game you are stuck with it - no selling it on ebay... no trading it in. Garbage.

Researching games a little and not rushing out on release day to spend $60 on an unknown quantity usually helps avoid crap.

I haven't bought a **** game in years by taking a few weeks to let people get a decent taste for what it really is.

For me it isn't paying 60 bucks for a brand new crap game. If I'm paying full price I already know if it's something I want.

Usually it's games that have been out for a while and are down to 20-40 bucks. But yea, there is no research involved with the crap games. Normally I'll just be glancing around, see something that looks interesting, and figure why not.

How much do y'all see GameStop asking for used Xbox one games now with the secondhand fee attached?

I dont have any issue with EA deciding to charge purchasers of used games a small amount to use their online servers.

it's apples to oranges. the used game is not adding to the strain on their servers. it was originally purchased and 2 people cannot play the same game at the same time. it is what it is, greed. there is a reason they dropped it.

The reason is having the ability to have a built in licensing system which wasn't available on the current gen

i guess it really doesn't matter. it's not going to change. these games are just going to get more and more expensive and us gamers will pay what ever the cost to play our game of choice.

that said, anyone got a 3 month xbl code they want to unload cheap? :)

Yes, it was added to keep companies like GameStop from cutting them off at the knees by doing nothing other than paying someone $20 for a used game and then turning around and selling it for $55. Why should developers not take steps to make sure they get paid for their work? If having the code forces more people to buy the game new, where EA gets a cut of the sale, then good for them IMO. GameStop had the upper hand on them in that regard for a lot of years, and just like any business, developers are going to adapt to try and regain the upper hand.

Here is a updated quote from Phil Harrison.......
\

"We will have a system where you can take that digital content and trade a previously played game at a retail store," Harrison said. "We're not announcing the details of that today, but we will have announced in due course."

"Our goal is to make it really customer-centric, really simple and really understandable and we will announce those details in due course."

I dont have a problem with M$ having their own store to where you can buy and also "trade in" games. Still heartburned over the online connectivity requirement and still have no idea why the DRM is set that way and what possible advantage it gives.
