New tradition at games

The crowd goes silent, the lights dim, the stadium is dark, all of a sudden 80's hair metal begins to play, as the hair stands on the back of your neck, fireballs shoot off from the field into the air, the lights suddenly burst on and then band starts rocky top as Tennessee comes running through the T. Just a suggestion lol

We don't recruit many 40 year old guys with mullets.

But I still like the idea.

We are missing 2 things:

1. A first down chant... everyone has them, we are behind.

2. A between 3rd and 4th quarter tradition... something to sing or chant or do together.

- First down chants sound dumb because they were started by UK, SCarolina, etc and when you are losing they are really dumb when your fans are cheering about a FIRST DOWN while losing 55-3

- They have the Alma Mater song at half, no reason to copy Florida or WVU and have some dumb song then

At least we arent as bad as trying to pass off "jump Around" or enter sandman as some great tradition...those are embarrasing to Wisky and VPI...

Our traditions are fine as is, except for get rid of the Woo (which first showed up around 1996)

Do we consider the "oooohh boom" for kickoffs a tradition? I always liked other schools that actually say something... I've also noticed everyone slacks on the "Go Big Orange" chant. It would be nice if everyone got behind that again.

I always like the idea of.... Ahhhhhh.... U... T..... Vols whenever its kicked

Well, since the team has to sprint from 1 end of the field to the other, we could all jump up and sprint to the opposite side of the stadium n sit in the seat directly across from our original seat.....???....

If we ever want to win another national championship again we have to bring back the magical "sic'em smokey" and "smokey's on the prowl" pre-recorded voice-over things played through the stadium speakers that we had back in '98.. Slightly cheesey but still totally awesome and it worked for us in '98...Its a proven tradition!

I've read about Nebraska fans clapping for the opponent when they leave the field after a game, win or lose, and not booing them when they come out either. I recognize we play 'Bama and Florida though :) so I'd settle for 60-Minute Fans who stay for the whole game regardless of whether we're up 40 or down 40. A 60-Minute Fans' Salute from everyone who stays for the whole game, to give props to the players' effort after a game, would be pretty cool.

Why do I want to leave midway through the second quarter?

When construction is finished will the salute to the hill return or will it remain a broken tradition. Actually heard a former POTS member say that to march down to the corner and then reverse field would mess up how they entered the stands. Last I checked, it was about 150 yards from where they go in the stadium to where they sit. Are they really that bad? Performances have suffered in the last few years, maybe the quality of the band members has dropped commiserate with the football team. Need to get a good recruiting class or two for the band.

sell shakers for a buck a handful. cheap way to cover cost and provide a sea of orange shakers each game.
