I was listening to a segment of sports talk yesterday, can't remember the guest name, but he did NOT sound optimistic about Aguilar's arrival in Knoxville. Not physical ability but arrival as in transfer of grades from Appy state and Ucla. Just wondering, what could be a potential hold up that could prevent him from getting here?

From what I've heard discussed, transfers must still be in good academic standing (imagine that, in today's "pay for play" world). The issue is that the semester doesn't end at UCLA until sometime in June, so unless they (UCLA) allow him to take online classes from Knoxville it would be difficult to get him here this month to start working on learning the offense. UT is holding out hope that because he was also still working on finishing his degree at Appy State via online classes while he's been enrolled at UCLA, then that would count towards his standing when he finishes (maybe this week?) and allow him to be on campus sooner.

I don't know that I've heard if that is going to be acceptable, but that's the gist of the issue, as I recall hearing it being discussed on Sportsline here in the Tri-Cities.

I don't think we have to worry about his "smarts".

These kids really go to class? When was the last time anyone was ruled academically ineligible?

Bump. Above is the answer to the question.

You know, could be a typo. Lord help us when the average poster starts stressing over grammar on VN.
There is also the fact that every modern medium used to post on these forums has a built-in spell checker. Grammar checks are also present in most browsers, mobile and desktop.

The NCAA released its Academic Progress Rate (APR) on Tuesday, which measures the academic success of a school and its various athletic programs. Failure to obtain a rating over 930 can lead to penalties, such as the penalty five FCS member institutions face based on the APR scores from the 2020-21 academic year through the 2023-24 academic year, effective for the 2025-26 academic year.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Florida A&M, Mississippi Valley State, Murray State, and Utah Tech are the five FCS schools that finished with an unsatisfactory APR score below 930. FAMU, Murray State, and Utah Tech face the same level one penalty: a practice reduction from 20 hours a week to 16 hours per week. The 4 hours of reduced practice will be used for academics. Six additional FCS schools – Alabama A&M, Bethune-Cookman, East Texas A&M, Houston Christian, Northwestern State, and Western Illinois – had multi-year rates below 930, but no penalties were assessed.

I recall seeing something a few weeks back on VN that Aguilar was having issues getting his UCLA transcripts until June or so because of when their term ends or something.

I thought the plan had changed to getting him enrolled in App St online so he could transfer from there instead.

Something like that. My thought at the time was that App St would probably be easy to get along with because they like being scheduled by lucrative schools like UT.

I may have dreamed this, but seems I read somewhere that he's asking for an exception from UCLA to drop classes after the deadline to stay in good academic standing, while wrapping up online classes to graduate from App State in late May, and thus enroll as a grad student. Anybody else read or hear that, or did I just make it up?
