New QB

This was what I read from 247...

UCLA is on the quarter system and its current quarter doesn’t end until June 13, but Aguilar could arrive sooner because he can get a waiver from UCLA to drop those classes this far into the quarter and instead complete the online courses he’s been taking to graduate from Appalachian State, where the final day of final exams and commencement ceremonies are later this week.

I was listening to a segment of sports talk yesterday, can't remember the guest name, but he did NOT sound optimistic about Aguilar's arrival in Knoxville. Not physical ability but arrival as in transfer of grades from Appy state and Ucla. Just wondering, what could be a potential hold up that could prevent him from getting here?
Have we paid him yet? And if can't transfer, will we lose that?

From what I've heard discussed, transfers must still be in good academic standing (imagine that, in today's "pay for play" world). The issue is that the semester doesn't end at UCLA until sometime in June, so unless they (UCLA) allow him to take online classes from Knoxville it would be difficult to get him here this month to start working on learning the offense. UT is holding out hope that because he was also still working on finishing his degree at Appy State via online classes while he's been enrolled at UCLA, then that would count towards his standing when he finishes (maybe this week?) and allow him to be on campus sooner.

I don't know that I've heard if that is going to be acceptable, but that's the gist of the issue, as I recall hearing it being discussed on Sportsline here in the Tri-Cities.

I don't think we have to worry about his "smarts".

UCLA would have to give him a waiver on completing classes / exams to get here earlier than June.

Once he completes App St work and graduates, he has what he needs to get into UT.

No waiver, be June. Waiver, he can come as soon as he completed App State work.

That is my understanding.

Thats really bad, if the guy is even dumber then Nico.
Intelligence on the football field and in the classroom are two different things. Lamar Jackson can barely spell his own name, but he is an excellent quarterback. Brett farve couldn’t read a defense to save his life, but he was a great quarterback. Playing quarterback has more to do with the ability to make quick decisions than actually being a high iq person.

There is also the fact that e Every modern medium used to post on these forums like these has a built-in spell checker. Grammar checks are also present in most browsers Most mobile apps, desktop apps, and browsers have grammar check tools as well.

It may have been Hubbs, or another of the segment guys, but he didn't sound hopeful, almost like he anticipated an problem. Suprised E.A. didn't push him on it a bit.
