New QB being Installed During Offweek

Yeah... as a true Fr who was not expected to play but was FORCED into action because the guy you try to deify flopped so badly.

And... he's doing it again this year. Bottom half of the SEC in almost every meaningful stat. He's 9th in QBR (ESPN and cfbstats use the same formula), 10th in YPA, 11th in YPG, 9th in TD passes, 7th in INT %, etc.

You are the one who tries to make "stats" the only meaningful measure. Are you ready to admit how bad JG is as a RS Sr now? It really doesn't matter how bad you THINK the others are... so don't even try that diversion again. JG has attempted 777 passes in his career. That's a meaningful sample set. There are meaningful patterns discernable in his performance or lack thereof. Maurer has the most attempts of the other three... with 76. Nowhere near enough to draw the conclusions you keep trying to draw.

Not surprisingly, the guy you think is "best" after JG is the guy with the LEAST to evaluate. He's thrown only 4 passes, completed only one, and should have had an INT..
Nothing changes the FACT JG is the best qb we have

Nothing changes the FACT JG is the best qb we have
Well, yes... there are things that change that false notion.

One, which guy can you play gives you the best opportunity to win the most games in the next two years. That's not JG... not by a long shot. Two, if given the next 2-3 starts to improve and acclimate... which gives you the best chance to end the season well. That's not JG. Three, which one gives you a legitimate chance at any point to keep D's honest with good throws to the deep middle and hot reads to burn blitzes... That's not JG either.

The only way you answer the question of the "best QB we have" with JG... is if you narrowly define the term "best". Is he the guy who manages the O best right now? Maybe. Would he be if someone else were given 2 or 3 weeks as the starter? Probably not.

Pruitt is putting his career at risk with shortsightedness.

JG isn't the best, we all know that, but aside from Kentucky, he hasn't been awful. The entire team has had issues, the prolific O-line has been average, the D line can't seem to get pressure, the secondary is at times lost, tackling has been atrocious at times...we have no leadership on the team and it shows. I really don't give a rip if it's JG, BM,HB or Shrout, I'm not sure our record right now would be any different than it is. We played 2 1/2 games and looked pretty good, and then UGA ate our soul in the second half and it has been downhill since. Hopefully the 2 weeks off have given them some focus and motivation because if the TEAM doesn't play any better than it has the last 3 games, an inspired Arky will beat us, and aTm, Auburn and Florida, too and we will be looking at trying to get our 3rd win from Vandy. This game is a must win for the coaches, players and fans for confidence and mojo. No matter who the QB is, IMO, they have to open the offense up and be a lot more aggressive.

The great QBs adjust to the adjustments that opposing DC’s craft against them. That’s why Kaepernick eventually failed...he didn’t. That’s what I was waiting for on Lamar Jackson. Mahomes, Russell Wilson etc keep advancing their games.
I wouldn't say Kaepernick failed, at football anyway

Honestly he played like a freshman making his 1st start against UGA....

I don't know why y'all argue football with a guy who grades QBs with paint swaches. It is a waste of time that exists at the center of every JG discussion black hole.

That’s no fact
Brilliant reply. How is it a fact.
asking for a fan

Pruitt and the guys who cove the team say so. Take it up with them.
There's some chatter out there that HB just isn't any good

Just not ready yet.

Yep freshman can play a perfect half vs the best d in cfb.

I guess you seem to forget we had a lead and JG was playing great before the line collectively crapped their pants.

Dude UGA gifted us a defensive TD..come one. Even for you thats pathetic to say JG had anything to do with that...

And thank you for acknowledging the BM played perfect against UGA....as a true freshman not a 5th yr SR...

Also if the OLine crapped thier pants, why did JG have more time to throw in the 2nd half then the 1st????hmmm

I was being sarcastic.

Not surprised you couldn't keep up.

He did not have more time on the pressures in the second half.

BM had an OK QUARTER vs UGA last year. Was still only 50% passing in his OK quarter. They did not have the best d in cfb last year either.

JG played an actual perfect HALF vs the best d. With the team actually having film on him and gameplanning for him.

He didn't hit only 50% and get lucky that the d sold out vs the run and did not respect the pass at all.

BM had a lucky quarter and we were losing at the half. JG played a perfect first half and we lead.

BM has never even had a good half let alone a perfect half.

Yes because he’s played so many games. Get real

Base don what is BM better? Not play when in the game.

No qb can loose a game. Maybe contribute when they lose.

But the other guys just aren't as good.

Complete better than 50% with no turnovers in a game with more than ten passes would be a great start. He has never had a good game. Good quarter yea. Good game no.

Ever see BM complete over 50% in a game he throws more than ten passes? Ever see BM throw for 400 vs a SEC team? Ever see BM beat a ranked SEC team on the road and be NPOTW? Ever see BM throw a td beyond his first quarter vs UGA?

Lets just say I'm less than convinced about this so called coaching career.
I got a question for you and every other doubter of myself OR Maurer. What if he leaves and you learn in the future I’ve been right all along?

You can question my credibility, experience and opinions all you wish but there only one of us within this conversation that’s been made a fool of from being repeatedly wrong. I feel confident that anyone that’s followed my opinions for the last two years can see an educated position given the results of my opinions. Regardless if they agreed or not.

If I were you, at this point, I’d be wondering who I was going to trust. Your opinion matches Pruitts and now his “expertise” in the qb position is being called into question for the second time in 2 years.

Just something to think about.

Any news on who is starting at QB this week at Ark? I haven't seen it, so sorry if it's been said.

That’s why they call it “chatter”. 😴

KTown doesn’t WANT a good qb. He only wants to be right. He seems to forget that Josh Dobbs wasn’t Josh Dobbs before he was given an opportunity to make a name for himself.

Everybody has on their orange tinted glasses now and since we have had JG so long..mthe worst UT QB ever by record as starter...they ALL seem to have forgotten that while Dobbs was an amazing runner, there were MANY MANY threads in Dobbs time about the fact that he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn sometimes. ..he wasn't nearly as bad as JG passing most of the time, but he was VERY inconsistent. Throw a nice deep ball...then hit a wide open TE 15 yards away in the ankles and 3 yards behind him...or overthrow wide open WR in the endzone...then into the turf next pass.

I love Dobbs and he is a great guy, but there were threads ALL the time about how inconsistent he was as a passer....his fast feet didn't just bail CBJ out....they bailed Dobbs out many times also when it was 3rd and 10 because his errant passes made incompletions on 1st and 2nd down.

Don't believe me? Go read some threads from the Dobbs days. I dont know if he ever threw for 300 yards in a game in his career...ever. was usually 200 or so with 60yds rushing a couple TDs combined. We were NEVER an offensive powerhouse with Dobbs here, but he did manage to put up good numbers over his long career as starter because he took every snap and played decently. Bottom half of the SEC as a passer...always.
