suggestions?

I through out Chris Klenakis' name last night (formerly at Nevada, currently at Arkansas).

Bottom line, Chaney's play calling has been a problem all year.

The players are having trouble just getting into the right formations without having illegal motion penalties, or too many men in the back field.

There is a reason why Kiffin didn't want to take him out west last year, and its become perfectly obvious.

He skated by on Joe Tiller's shirt tails for years at Purdue.. fortunate enough to have a future NFL hall of famer at QB in Drew Brees, and another good one in Kyle Orton.

When it went sour in West Lafayette, he took off to the Rams to coach OL, and I think anyone who followed the NFL the last half dozen years could tell you how well that worked out. Marc Bulger was one of most sacked QBs in the history of the NFL. I'm sure he'd be willing to testify. The Rams offense was one of, if not the, worst in the league for multiple seasons.

We have a young innovative D Coordinator in Wilcox that at least has shown that he can make adjustments during games.

Its time to bring in new blood so that we have the equivalent on offense going forward so that when 2012 gets here our offense will be in rhythm... rather than suffering through another disastrous offensive season and then trying to fix it is Spring 2012 when the team should be by all accounts, much more talented.

After this season, take our medicine and bring in a new offensive system. Learn it all through spring, practice next fall during what will undoubtedly be another rebuilding season. And then have another spring in 2012 to perfect it. By fall 2012 it will be ready to rock.

So who are some good offensive coordinator prospects?

Here's a thought, how about we keep him atleast one more year and see if the players do better in their "second year with the same OC".

we havent had an offensive coordinator for more than 1 year for the past five years. and chaney is now doing this under a new head coach with a new qb and mostly freshamn and all unexperienced players playing. quit your whining, stop freaking out, and give the man a couple years to get his system in place with experienced players.

I think we should get Jim Chaney to be our offensive coordinator. I seriously think you are out of touch with reality.

wilcox makes adjustments during the game? from what ive seen the defense is awesome in the first half (oregon, alabama) and then any 'adjustments' have allowed opponents to have their way with us in the second half.

Everybody says "You cant really blame Wilcox, look what he has to work with." doesnt the same thing apply to chaney? Terrible post

he did until that responsibility was taken away from him... and low and behold Crompton turned from the worst QB in UT history into an NFL draft pick.

When was this ever reported? I remember Kiffin saying in his opening press conference that he would be calling the plays. So many people here make things up to fit their ideology

+1 I even remember Kiffin saying that he would call his own plays and hopefully 1 day the trust level would be where it needed to be and he would turn that responsibility over to the OC.

So if Lane Kiffin doesn't trust you what circle of Dante's inferno must your play calling ability be in?

Your post openly displays a vast ignorance of football.

Kiffin called the plays the entire year last year. Please stop making stuff up like "playcalling responsibility was taken away from him." You might be thinking of Fulmer taking over playcalling at the end of Clawson's tenure.

Also, to the OP that said this is our players' second year with this OC, I didn't realize that both of our QBs and the entire OL played for him last year. Also, our starting RB didnt have meaningful playing time in his system last year.

But you're right, the best solution would definitely be to bring in our 4th playcaller in the last 4 years.

He's shown that he doesn't know how to call plays. He calls the game like he's at Purdue. Pass, pass, pass.

Chaney's playcalling has been suspect at best. However, if you go out and get ANOTHER OC you are going to put these guys on offense through the same thing G.Jones and D.MO have been through in their time here. What we need more than anything is stability. We as fans need to suck it up and watch the progress. We knew it was going to be a rough year, so deal with it. Next year will be a bit better, not by much, but a little better.
Cheers.

I would have no problem with any of these coaches:

Dana Holgorsen
Al Borges
Shawn Watson
Paul Chryst
Jeff Jags
Mark Whipple

More lower tier:

Blake Anderson
Lincoln Riley
Steve Axman
Paul Petrino
Tony Franklin -- yes, that Tony Franklin. Not Tommy Tubberville handicapped Tony Franklin.

Had Chaney been a OC under Lane Kiffin before? Maybe Kiffin was not familiar with Chaney's play calling abilities? Personally, I think we have so many holes in our team that it would be impossible to lay blame on 1 coach. The whole program is a huge mess right now. Anti depressant pills are probably selling better than meth right now.
