New Offense

I’m tired of the Heupel “hurry up” offense the novelty of it is over with and i think better teams have figured it out. I know the only way we get a new offense is when we get a new HC cause Heupel will never change. But man i miss the old pro style offense hell i wouid settle for the ground and pound that that Illinois runs.
Need a offensive line for that. In fact, need an offensive line to throw it too.

We lead the SEC in scoring. Seems to be working.

CJH has lost his balls.

The offense had no identity in the biggest games of the year.

You’re either a Tempo running offense or you’re not.

You protect your defense by scoring touchdowns. It doesn’t matter if it’s 30 second drives or 5 minute drives.

If the offense thrives running tempo then you run tempo.

CJH will have to find his balls if we ever want to get back to 2022 form on offense.

We need a real OC calling the plays and Heupel worrying about the coaching the game. He's too predictable.
They even talked about it last night saying IL staff knew what TN was running by the way their TE lined up.
The OL last night was horrible and got man handled. Last night we did so many substitutions that I'm surprised that IL didn't just jog one man off and on at a time burning the time clock making TN call or a TO or take a delay of game penalty.
Lots of HCs call the plays on offense. Some of the best HCs do it.

Our offense is not the issue.. is every call perfect? Obviously no, but we are scoring points and have consistently had over 1k rusher to go anlong with solid passing yards. Our defense was abysmal this year. Illinois drove the field and took up clock pretty much every drive. When our offense was on the field they made some plays. Defense just gave us zero chance

Illinois lost to Indiana 63-10. Let’s pump the brakes. Heupel needs new blood and new ideas. As it stands, he has surrounded himself with buddies and pals. That’s NOT a good look. Development is an obvious problem. Knowles won’t be a push over on defense. He won’t go for Heupel’s practices of not tacking.

If he doesn’t address his deficiencies on his offensive staff, we will be looking for a coach this time next year. I don’t care how well he recruited. If he loses 5 games again, or worse, he’s gone. The retuning roster is an 8 win team at best. So, if he doesn’t make some bold moves in the portal, he’s toast.

this isn't the same offense we saw in 21/22. Huepel seems to have lost his fast ball. he was always running warp speed. we were always trying to score points. we had 20 seconds and three times before halftime last night and didn't try to do anything productive. in 21/22 he would've been going to points(and probably would've gotten them). last nights offense didn't even look like anything we had seen all year this year. i hope they just didn't care. never play these bowl games again. opt out and move on.
I think when Golesh left, so did Hype’s high powered offense. It remains to be seen if Hype can produce a high powered offense without Golesh. The excuses are getting old. Wrong QB, offensive line, team youth, etc…… the lack of accountability is astounding. Yeah, we all hear Hype’s words about improving but I’m not seeing action. Verbally acknowledging accountability and taking extreme action to show you’ve accepted accountability are 2 different things.

Hell...tonight we were huddling....playing slow....doing this look at me crap to the sidelines. We played very little hurry up. This offense Heupel runs isn't much, but if you take away the element of surprise with the hurry up it's really not much at all.
Problem is that he's built a team for the wide splits and a hurry up/finesse offense, but now has to play slower, closer in and a more conventional offense. We're just not built or coached for physicality. Square peg round hole thing.

We lost 4 games where Heupel's offense scored in the 20s...You call that a great offense. Looks great against the also rans though.
Too bad stats actually make you look foolish. Yes we had a great offense. Did it stutter at times? Sure. I mean having a top 10 offense nationally is elite. Regardless of what you want to believe.

And his offense has produced more wins in the past 4-5 years than we have had since Phil and the days of the super weak SEC.

Looks great against the also rans and the bottom feeders, doesn't it. Tell me the stats against OU...Bama...Vandy... Illinois? UGA improved a lot since game 3 and we regressed. You actually believe we'd score a lot on UGA if we played today? You pick and choose your stats for games we played, huh? I guess if we'd played ETSU 12 times we'd have the greatest offense in college history, right. Regardless of what you believe.

As some have pointed out, this isn't the same hurry up offense from his first 3 years. Some rule changes have slowed it down and it is only effective if you can score early and often otherwise it's putting a lot of physical strain on the defense.

He has evolved the offense and I think he's been adding more heavier personnel each year. Again, as some have already pointed out, the offense is not the main issue (although Nico and Milton were limiting us in the past ).

New offense this has been said ever since Golish left.lmao They bring in Jim Chaney the play calling may be worse this season i will not be suprised. I would be suprised if we only win 6 games this coming season. We have to adapt to the way other defense plays us now.Stats to me don't mean crap.

While the defemse was the glaring problem, the offense had issues with:

1. Pre-snap penalties
2. Drops by WRs
3. Bishop as your top runner - love the guy, but he lacks the breakaway speed to make defenses pay when they play deep to protect against the deep ball
4. JA proved to be turnover prone as the season progressed (as he always has been)
5. Meh Oline play against the big dogs of the conference

Outside of Brazzell . . . Who “scared” an opposing coach? Matthews and Staley were very inconsistent in catching the ball.

I don’t know that it’s scheme / play calling as much as we don’t have the “dudes.”

Play calling wise . . . What drove me nuts all year was seemingly every time we got a big play on first down . . . We ran it up the middle with little to no threat of the QB pulling it and running it . . . And 90% of the time it was a wasted play.

There is an argument that pulling a Notre Dame would've left us with more dignity.

This year's offense wasn't hurry up. The one we saw vs Illinois definitely wasn't. If you don't block well, your style of O doesn't matter very much. OL performance in that game was the biggest disappointment.

FWIW, if you noticed after they said that... the few tempo plays they ran worked.
