Just opposing POVs and neither side wants to concede the other's point. MZTERRY is a fan of her son first and a Vol fan second. The way it should be for her. The rest of us are Vol fans first and player fans second. Also the way it should be for us. Some of us, maybe everyone in this thread other than MzT, have been Vol fans since before JC was born. I wish him the best in life and appreciate him choosing the Vols. I hope he tears it up this season and has a monster year. I think most of us agree on that. The rest just needs to be let go. Agree to disagree. And Sam, one of the reasons she may not want to fully explain her POV is that her son is still a part of the program. I'm sure she doesn't want to say something that could rebound on him.
MzT, I hope you can understand that liking Dooley and firing Dooley are two different things. The fans have everyright to be angry about what we see on the field. Football is a religion to some of us. When we see players quit on their coach(the infamous KY game) and lack of progression(our record wasn't getting better), then yes, we get angry. UT has a storied history. We haven't lived up to that history for awhile. I'm praying that changes this year. Dooley seemed like a likeable guy, though I never got to meet him personally. I can understand you having a fondness for him. I hope you can understand that as a coach at UT, he had more losses than wins. Coaches like that don't last long in the SEC. If you can't see that, fair enough, I'll agree to disagree.

(1)Heck yeah
(2) CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD- I've been a VOL fan for quite sometime too. I jacked up an opportunity to go to UT many years ago, so Jason being there for me is living out my dream. I think I mentioned that on his commitment day.
(3)CDD very likeable; and I understood his release... expected before we signed with UT....and I've said that in so many words. What I have said thats been discredited is the continual disrespect of him. He's done and its over. If you go back and read any of my posts you'll see that I ALWAYS say I adore him as a person. If it weren't for him and his honesty, Croomster wouldn't be there. CDD didn't make me any long drawn out promises. He didn't BS us when he sat in my living room. I asked some specific questions, some in regards to the losing season of 2011, and he answered them in a way that I could accept and respect. That's what got my signature.
(4)The same thing that I cant stand about y'all crazy diehard fans, is the same freakin' thing that I love so much about y'all crazy diehard fans, but like you said... I'm momma first; fan second.
(5)Now as a fan I know I'm going to catch heat for as i type this, but it's okay;----I feel like CDD needed "THIS 2013" season to really prove himself, and that opportunity wasnt given to him. Butch is in this same scenario right now. CDD was here 2 1/2 years. Last year 2012 was HIS first true recruiting class. &This year. I think we talked about this the other day.... 10 of the 21 recruits from 2013 are Dooleys. So it bothers me when people say he couldn't recruit. Do we not want the kids that stayed committed to us? He pulled some of the BEST kids in 2012 & 2013. Last year for certain, not just because Croomster is a part of that class, but do the stats... there are 6 ALL AMERICAN 4* & 5*, and that's NOT even including Cordelle... that's just outta high school. I think CDD was finally on the right track, and Fans and boosters wanted immediate results. Social media added to the sacking of CDD. If we go back and look at situations like ours w/out Social media; any other coach would have been given 3 - 4 years to turn it around. Infact... use Saban as this example. Look at him now. I think we could have gotten it done this season, and if not then I would 110% support the release of CDD.
CBJ accepted a great opportunity in the SEC, and what I'm just figuring out is that he gives a damn about the kids. THATS ALL that matters to me. Football is a means to an out for Croomster, and his education more important than anything. CBJ is a football coach that feels the exact same way. When he and I talked a few months back, I expressed my concerns and he immediately addressed them. That's all I can ask. Jason is your entertainment , but he's my son, and fame is absolutely NOT what he's at UT to obtain.
We have a brand NEW team and and totally new staff, so ALL of the dynamics have changed. This transition at the beginning was difficult for the families. The kinks have been worked out parents are settling into the plan, and I appreciate the time CBJ took with the parents after things settled down. We basically had to be re-recruited of sorts.
I hope this sheds a little light on my side, and I appreciate you understanding and strattling the fence for me.

GO VOLS
Loved the post and the insight into CBJ. Thanks for that. As far as Jason goes, if he keeps his head straight(which I expect he will with a momma like you), then he'll have fans for life. I gave up on favorite teams in the NFL after Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys, but I still root for all those who gave their all at Tennessee. And whether he makes it to the league or not, I'll always wish him the best no matter his career path. He does entertain us, but he also honors us by playing for our beloved Vols. He had a wide range of choices, and he picked UT. That is deeply appreciated.
As for taking the middle ground, I try to see all sides of any arguement. Like you said, you're a mother first, and I'd expect no less. If it were my son, despite my love for the Vols, I'd have questions I wanted answered too. Your son's future is far more important than the team you root for. Just a fact of life.
As for Dooley, like I said, I never met him, but he seemed like a likeable guy IMO. I was disappointed with things I saw happenning on the field and I honestly don't feel I saw the strides we needed to be making. But that's just my opinion. The thing that has bothered me the most is the number of in-state coaches and players who have come forward since his dismissal and claimed to have had no contact or relationship with him. That is disturbing to me and I can't think of any justification for it. I also can't think of a reason why these coaches and players would lie, so I'm inclined to believe they're being truthful.
