New HC in Place Next Week

I am convinced what Briles did was under the orders of the same idiot who tried to impeach a president because of oral sex. He didn't witness anything. Call me crazy but I might at least get his side of it and maybe let him be on support staff until he can restore his reputation if he was not intimidating victims.

But to witness what was happening in that shower and your inaction leads to more and more kids raped and molested? I really can't understand how those guys live with it.

Once again Schiano has denied this.
Vetted by Ohio state, Tampa Bay, USC, Michigan, and Oregon and cleared vetting.

But let's keep claiming guilt off of a 20+ year old statement made under duress, that even if true don't know what Schiano actually did about it.

Remember he is a human not a super hero.

Hadn’t seen this on here so........

With Sports Talk starting late from the OT victory...Hyams and Ferrara were discussing Currie on live tv in the Bahamas....not on a plane for the rumor mill sitings....or not searching as we speak for a hire. Hyams said a prominent booster told him the new HC will be in place by this time (yesterday) as we speak. He said the booster wouldn’t name who but the hire should be done....praying it to finally be finished so all the insane rumors will be over.

:dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Set a 48 hour timer from when Currie steps foot back in Knoxville. If there is press conference in that time it’s Gruden! No other candidate could be lined up this fast?

If we don't at least try to go after Patterson, PETERSON, Franklin, and just settle for someone like Schiano I will no longer purchase season tix until he proves he is worthy and shows he can turn around a train wreck.

+1

Jimmy Hyams just told the world that we would never be able to hire anyone and that Currie hadn't even started interviewing people yet we're supposed to have someone in place next week.

Make your feeble mind up, Jimmy.

Amen.

He needs to give up sportscasting, get into acting, and audition as Janet Reno in the next Bill Clinton biopic.

:rock:The primary reason that Les Miles is not receiving consideration is his age...64 years old.

Why would we want a guy who can coach with something to prove,I mean we are Tennessee the laughing stock of the SEC. Who wants a guy who won a NC? We are too dumb to make that call.

Proven second best coach in the SEC for that last 10 years. Blows my mind why he wasn't announced as the head coach yesterday.

He stayed to long at LSU and had a change of AD during his time there and that relationship turned bad.... like so many others same reason Richt got pushed out at Georgia and look what he has Miami doing..... and Miles has PROVEN he is a better coach than Richt

I’m sure he did deny it. JoePa did too.
If I was innocent of the accusation of witnessing such an act and not reporting it, there would be more than a simple denial. I would be slapping libel suits and dragging everyone who testified into court who claimed I was a witness. But that’s just me.

Jimmy saying new coach in place next Tuesday. If UCF loses to South Florida and does not make conference championship, Scott Frost will be available tomorrow night.

Jimmy’s blog: UT likely to hire a coach within a week | WNML-AF

Let's compare John Currie's hiring of the new baseball coach. Surely, Currie vetted possible candidates early in the process. John Currie seems to make quick decisions once he has targeted his coach.

Once contact was made, new Tennessee Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello 'separated himself quickly'

After Arkansas was eliminated by Missouri State on Monday night, Currie decided enough was enough, even if it was 1:45 in the morning. So he picked up the phone and called Vitello in Tuesday's early morning hours.

"Once we finally had the opportunity to connect, there wasn't any use in waiting until dawn," said Currie, adding that Vitello "separated himself quickly" once contact was made.

"We have the right one with Coach Vitello," Currie said of the hire.

Well, he hasn't cleared Tennessee's vetting. You can take everybody else's vetting and stick it. Means nothing. The presumed innocent may be the legal standard, but before I want him here, I want to know he knew absolutely nothing. He witnessed nothing. If he enabled, we don't need him.

Once again, end of story. I know he is human, but he better have a super hero's values to coach the Vols. Heroes don't walk away when boys OR girls get raped.

I’m just ready to not hear the word Gruden unless I’m watching Monday night football again

If you are trying to sleep in Oak Ridge tonight, and are awakened by an amplified voice from a passing vehicle yell, "GRUDEN, GRUDEN, GRUDEN!" know I couldn't resist.

Well, let’s see. The screen name......dilusional visions, a paper bag over your head, consistent misenterpretations or blatant lies.......you are perfect...

Report: Tennessee not ruling out Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano

Article sites a source saying if Currie's main guys fell through its Schiano.

I would guess Kelly & Gruden would be the main guys they are referring to?

An earlier article said he would look at Mullen, but then numours articles about how Schiano has been flying up that list.

Me
Personally I don't understand how it isn't Les Miles at Tennessee

Miles or Schitiano.....throwing up in my mouth

Most of us have been loyal fans, going to games, purchasing merchandise and so on. It’s unfortunate that we don’t get to decide who the AD will be or who the coach is. We are forced to support the team no matter who is hired which is why everyone is so frustrated. I just hope Currie will hire a coach that we can all get behind. The past ten years have been difficult to handle.

If it's Schiano I am done with UT football..As prestigious a program we have and the history we should not be settling for coaches like him or Dooley...Plus that Penn St crap he was involved in really makes me sick...Watching some of these top coaches say no to us makes me wonder exactly what they are saying or doing to make this job look that unattractive...They must be lowballing everybody...Something is wrong..Guess we'll see soon enough.

I’ll always be a fan. However if google coach x is hired I’m done with being involved. I’ll have games on in the background on Saturdays. Won’t go to any games, won’t plan my day around watching, and any and all support to the university will be over. It’s not worth my my time or resources to be in invested in this thing if the administration isn’t going to give a crap about the product.

They can count on my support once they take this seriously again. I suspect there are a lot of fans that feel this same way.

Hopefully it doesn’t come to that and they get it right this time.

You pretty much describe me. The only bandwagon fans that are left are self-loathing masochists. The rest of us have had our "fan cards" tested to the nth degree, and we're still here. To keep us here, we need to see something that gives us hope that the university is seriously considering winning at a high level again. That could mean Gruden for some, could mean others.

Personally, it's Patterson, Peterson, Gruden, Frost, Mullen for me. Mullen should be the floor on this hire, the worst case scenario, which is still exponentially better than Butch Jones.

Are you blind, crazy or stupid. All you Less Miles apologists are driving me crazy! He had one of the worst offense in the sec on a yearly basis despite having some of the most talented teams in college football; could not recruit or develop a qb; lost games in bizarre fashion because of mindless clock management; refused to relinquish/ change offense strategy when threatened with being fired...how can people continue to excuse this morons failings at LSU? He had one of the most fertile recruiting areas in his back yard while coaching at an elite program. He will have neither of those if he comes to UT. HOW WILL HE BE ABLE TO BE AS (MORE) SUCCESSFUL AT UT WITH A LESSER PROGRAM AND MUCH MORE DIFFICULT RECRUITING ABILITY??

The answer is: he will not.
