Neverending MBRO memory thread

I had a bit of drama myself at work this week. I have (had) a 20 year male server that has been showing aggression towards other staff this week. I’ve had problems before out of him and have had to send him without pay. He has some heavy issues in personal life and I thought I had gotten through to him. Tuesday morning, I was cook on shift for breakfast when he came in angry I said “Good Morning ______”, he gave me a go to hell look and walked past me. I went up to him and said same thing and told him that he needs to respond when I address him and leave his attitude at the door (longer story than this one), He went out the back door and when he came back, slipped something in his pocket, part of a sheath was showing, he then preceded to knock over several pitchers of drinks over. The other server was drenched, but she went to clean it up and was just walking away. I told him that he needed to clean up his mess and not leave it for others. Next thing I knew, he took all the pitchers and slung them into a wall and sink. I lost my temper and told him to get out of my kitchen.

After that server left, it was only me and my other server, I locked all the doors, but left open, especially to my stock room, my office, chemical room and a specialty dining room and told my server to go to any of those rooms and close behind her if he showed back up. Come to find out, he had been making threats about me to other employees and all over social media for awhile because I’m a authority figure. He even sent texts to other employees about me yesterday. If I can figure out how to post them I will. I even had my boss and other staff members be at work this morning, when I came in, because they are worried about my safety. He didn’t show up, Thank you Lord. As long as I’ve been in management, I’ve never seen anything like this.

Do you have the authority to fire him ? Show the police the texts even though he is I assume fired by now -- if he has a mental illness he might stalk you or worse

Don’t mess around, have the police come out if you think you are in danger.

Show the police the texts even though he is I assume fired by now -- if he has a mental illness he might stalk you or worse -- get a restraining order

Termination is justified. Other employees deserve a safe workplace and your company cannot provide that with him there.

I’ve told all my employees to save all texts from him and have had some forwarded to me. Also, had them them to make statements (found out yesterday from one, he got mad one day and threw a coffee pot at her, last week). 🤦‍♀️. I just found out about that.

Of course you’re aware of workplace shootings done by disgruntled employees. This is a very dangerous situation. I agree with NorCal that the police should be made aware of the situation and if you have a carry permit then carry, if not have armed security in place. This whole thing is very scary to me, we can’t afford for you to get hurt. 😠
