Complete opposite story with Dools, I remember feeling like we would never be able to pull out a win with Dooley. Seemed like coaches, players, and fans felt the same way.

Butch's program has proven to have much more fight, grit, toughness, and determination about them. Combined with the fact that Jones is recruiting on an elite level (much better than Dooley), makes me think that we will be very difficult to deal with in the coming year.

Agreed. Last year's group would've been blown out by both OU and UGA. Close losses are always highlighted by the losing fans with recognition of bad calls and no-calls by the refs and by "stupid" qb and coaching decisions, but the truth is the skills necessary for winning games requires experience at getting these tough W's, and that's what these young men are in the process of acquiring. The talent's here with even more coming in. The coaching and leadership is top notch and progress is being noted by nearly everyone in the media and coaching circles. Keep up the great work VFLs! Clear and snap....it's Floor duh week.

Great post! I'm labeled a negavol for having realistic expectations of this young team, but I'm rather pleased with the progress being made. Yes, I'd rather win like everyone else would, but I'm ok with knowing that the good times are coming soon, and just supporting this group of guys that are playing their hearts out for 60 minutes. This team has heart and is much easier to stand by than the Dooley teams that would just quit when times got tough. I think the problem is all the sunshine pumping Vol fans that get so worked up thinking we are going to beat all these teams that are clearly better than us, and then have monumental meltdowns when it doesn't happen. This team is an offensive line away from being very good, and I believe we will win a game or two we shouldn't just because of the amount of heart these kids play with.

The best post this week. I totally agree with everything you said here. It seems like an impossibility to please the weirdo posters on VN. Like you said, many on here picked us to get blown out and we didn't have a chance. Then we almost win and yet still the complaints. Pathetic. NEOCON has thrown down the gauntlet to you Nancy's.

Bank on it. When we beat SC last year there were useless rags on here that complained about that win. It seems like every loss we have is legit yet every win is somehow luck, or the other team was not as good as advertised.

`Those who whine and cry about the coaching now were the same one's who *****ed about John Chavis as defensive coordinator when he was here.
Now that he's at LSU, he is a defensive genius.

People, can we please just get a grip?

We have posters saying we should have easily beaten a horrible UGA team.

We have posters calling for the OC's head when his offense puts 32 points and 400+ yards on the #12 team. Did he make some questionable calls? Sure. But you just cannot expect him to be perfect. Are you held to that same standard at your job?

Again, his offense put 32 points on UGA on the road and NEVER gave up. This was accomplished by a senior quarterback and a plethora of kids barely out of high school.

People question a play call when it's a run up the middle on our goal line. The freshman RB fumbles and it's the OC's fault?

The starting QB goes out for a few series with an injury. The second string QB plays horribly. Is that the OC's fault? Why wasn't it Dobbs? Well, Dobbs has not practiced as well as Peterman. Why else would Peterman get the call? Do you think that the coaches do not want to put the best players on the field? Do you think that the coaches ran plays for Peterman that he couldn't execute in practice?

We have posters claiming that youth is just an excuse. The class that CLK recruited had how many kids that made it through their senior year? How bad was CDD's recruiting? How many kids did we sign last February? Come on people. The team is unbelievably YOUNG. Neither CBJ nor his coaches caused that problem. Look at the talent they are getting to fill the void.

Please... just take a step back and look at the facts objectively and without emotion. Do you honestly expect to win every game with a schedule that's one of the most difficult in CFB?
