Starz halts Netflix contract renewal talks, as 1,000 movies hang in the balance | Inside Movies | EW.com

The hits keep coming for Netflix. Starz announced they will not renew their contract, so that means even more movies are gone from the instant streaming. First most of the newer high profile Sony movies were pulled, now this.

Netflix better do something or it's about to join MySpace.

I already got out while I was ahead. Trying to charge me more for a dumbed down product. Laff. I laff at you Netflix!

Considering I've had my two DVDs sitting on a bookshelf since March, I returned them and switched to instant only. My queue is full of classics, documentaries, and television series I enjoy; thus, worth $0.25 per day to me.

About to do the same. I think I've used my dvd queue twice in the past couple of months.

Thankskilling.. just watch the first five minutes.

..worst movie ever, but very entertaining for a good 3 minutes.

Looks like the Qwikster team will be offering a plan for gaming now too. Wonder how much they will charge for that....

Funny timing, though in that email this morning. I cancelled my dvd plan only 2 days ago.

Why, because of a changed name?

I could care less about the name change. It's the inconvenience of having seperate websites, one dedicated to streaming and one dedicated to dvds/games. For instance if I put a dvd in my Qwikster queue it will not tell me if that movie is available for streaming. I would have to go to the Netflix site to see if it is available for streaming and if it is I would then have to go back to Qwikster and remove that movie from my queue.

I'm sure they'll find a way to integrate Qwikster into Netflix within the first few months (possibly the same way that you can log in to Facebook on just about any site). It'll give you the ability to merge the 2, but still allow each to operate separately if you so choose.

Just recently added Breaking Bad and The Wonder Years through Instant, and it looks like they'll also be getting the first season of the Walking Dead soon.

Their streaming service just rose in stock a little bit with those additions. For those who haven't experienced the epicness of Breaking Bad, I strongly urge you now to do so. Best show on TV currently, IMO.

I checked out Breaking Bad. Awesome show.

I'm not sure what is up with The Walking Dead Season 1. It was on Instant, then taken off, and now it won't even come up when you search.

I got an email saying they aren't separating streaming from mail now. So no qwickster or whatever they were gonna call it.

What a joke. I've had a good experience with Netflix other than the price hikes, but it sounds like they can't make up their mind about what they want to do. Every move thay've made recently has backfired against them.

Received the same email. They look pretty foolish at this point, but at least they got it right. The idea of separate sites was silly.

Netflix has a history of making abrupt changes and then hitting Ctrl-Z. They have to kill off the DVD rental eventually.
