Jtrain..Do you like the intro music and video? I really dig it. I feel ashamed as a Trek fan that I never watched this series. It is paying off now though.

The intro is neat, it fits the theme of the show well. It's a very well done series, from what I've seen.

Two interesting movies on Netflix...

Triumph of the Will and the Birth of a Nation. The former was originally commissioned by Hitler as Nazi propaganda, and the latter was an early film by DW Griffith as a glorified tribute to the rebirth of the KKK. Both wound up being cinematic standard bearers, however and are considered two of the most important films of all time.

I actually watched Birth of a Nation in my Early American Cinema class. It was interesting to see the KKK ride in to "Ride of the Valkyries" to save the town

If you want a good old film from before censorship (that really pushed the limits), check out Baby Face (1933). It's not on instant, but it's worth adding to the queue.

Oh, and don't bother watching the Theatrical. Watch the "Pre-Release". It is very, very strong.

IIRC, there is no complete version of Birth of a Nation in existence, as various copies were edited as whomever was playing them saw fit.

Reading the description, it appears that it's got the full video. When we watched it, though, we only saw the 2nd act (at least I believe it was split in acts). She figured we didn't need to watch 2-3 hours of the Civil War as a silent movie

change your taste preferences. look under sub-genres for westerns. that should do the trick.

Bit of a vent. I had loaded Spartacus into my streaming list a few months ago. Now the first few episodes are disc only. Several middle episodes are streaming. Makes no sense.

Out of 180 or so episodes of Wings, 3 random ones are DVD only. No idea.

Just got done watching the Thing. Great movie, the special effects still look great. The theme/score whatever is pretty damn scary as well.

The Fighter has been added to streaming. That's quick for a new movie. Wonder if they will stream newer movies more quickly with the pricing change.

It's going to cost them 10 times as much as what they're paying now to keep what they already have when the contracts expire so I doubt there'll be much of an improvement any time soon.
