FNL is a great series, season 2 is a little goofy because it was partially done during the writer's strike but other than that it's surprisingly high quality.

Update: if you like the movie, then you will like the series. I love that they give backstory to the ridiculous and random things in the movie (like the can of vegetables).

I've never seen the movie so to me the show was absolutely awful. I gave up after 3 episodes.

it'd help a lot if you watched the movie first. the show was made strictly for fans of the movie. most of the best jokes on the show are callbacks to the movie.

of course that said, the movie isn't for everyone. always found it pretty evenly split among the masses between love it and hate it (those people are wrong though of course :p). Would still recommend giving it a shot though.

The show seems like the movie would be a Sharknado-esque comedy about summer camp.

So the movie is pretty good but really silly. If you aren't into it, you will probably hate it. If you are, then you will probably like the show too.

Under no circumstances would a sane person like the show without having seen the movie, LOL

I started to watch the first episode, and decided to rewatch the movie first just to refresh my memory.

I never watched the show much until I saw it was on Netflix a few years ago. I love it, even the less popular last 2 seasons. The first movie is good, the second....is ok but a letdown considering it was the first X-Files since the finale and the plot is essentially a "monster of the week" story. I even like the short lived spinoff The Lone Gunmen; very underrated show.

And of course I'm pumped for the 6 episode revival next year.
