Big fan of Nessler. Agree that Blackledge would be an awesome addition.

I have a love/hate relationship with Lundquist. His voice is iconic, but when you listen to what he's actually saying, it drives you nuts. Not too sure how I feel about Danielson. VN has lots of hate for him, but he's a big Kamara fan. Heard him promote Kamara as one of the best players in the SEC a few times.

How do you feel about Nessler taking uncle Verne's spot? I like Nessler and think it will be an upgrade. I did appreciate Verne after a few shots of whiskey though. He will be missed. Nessler is quite good and will pair well with Danielson.

it works for me, i like Nessler

Vern was unprofessional. He frequently got player names and facts wrong.

Danielson... is probably worse. I would love to see CBS get a whole new team.

Agreed. It's not his fault, but Gary & Verne called most of the worst losses we've had over the past 10 years (i.e., almost every Florida & Alabama game), and a lot of Vol fans probably just associate his commentary with those losses. It's like PTSD.

Taking off the orange goggles, it's indisputable that Gary Danielson is among the most knowledgeable and observant color commentators in college football.

:good!: Can't disagree with any of that.

I wish CBS had kept Gus Johnson on their network. That is all.

actually, i appreciate danielson. he calls it like he sees it, it's not his fault we've sucked for the better part of a decade. and the sad part, he really isn't wrong in his assesments.

i do get tired of going back to the replays to show you he was right. the dude has an ego, no doubt.

like nessler. wasn't a fan of Verne, appreciate what he meant to the game etc...but not my cup of tea. it's my age, but my favorite was Ron Franklin and Mike Gottfried. don't hate Sean McDonnnough.

Franklin and Gottfried were good.

Verne needs to stick to golf. Danielson spent too much time trying to cover him.

No thanks to Danielson. Get tired of him incessantly trying to prove he is right about a play or an officials' call even after replays show him to be wrong.

Danielson lost me during the '15 UGA game after Hurd ran over dawg DB, and Danielson said he favors a targeting penalty on RBs who lower their shoulder to hit a DB. I am thinking when did defenders become defenseless?

Ever since John Ward retired, I pay little attention to the announcers. Most do a poor job of adding to the game.

John described the action better than the TV. TV has instant replay.

Had Ward not retired,

1. Those headphone radios would still be worn into Neyland Stadium, as long as some idiot did not make them a banned item.

2. This discussion would not be all that important. We would also create a demand for DVRs with the option of dubbing in radio broadcasts so we could later watch the game and hear Ward's coverage just as everybody's parents did while we grew up Vols fans.
