Well, it already seems like you're not gonna enjoy the games. So, why don't you give those tickets to me?

Witchy, I've never known you to let a Troll get to you? Usually you just sprinkle a little "head shrinking" dust on them, smoke some potent Witch Doctor herb and leave it at that. What' up???

I really want to know, from all the Dooley haters, who should and or could we have hired in our situation?

We were left with a few weeks before signing day and needed to regroup a class. All of the big name coaches had already signed an extension or found a new home. Who could we have gotten that would make you all happy?

Al Golden and Randy Edsall are two that I can think of off the top of my head.

Some people are glass half full and some are glass half empty. Its ok to not expect much from the vols this season if thats how you see it. I think Im just going to take it game by game and hope to see our vols getting better as the season goes on. I will be cheering for this yrs squad just like I would the 98 championship team. Hope to win every game and support them after every loss. Go Vols!

I suppose, but there are also certain realistic expectations to have.

And realistically I'd say a 6 win season this year is a major accomplishment.

Not gonna disagree about the expectations, i just wouldnt count out the fact that we could surprise people this year.

Al Golden's record is worse than Dooley's. And Randy Edsall is barely above .500 and his best record is nine wins in ten seasons.

Randy is the strongest of the two but that's like being the prettiest fat girl at the prom...

I'm just being very realistic. I don't care if Vince Lobmardi was patrolling the sideline, it would be a long year this year. New QBs + inexperienced O-line = trouble.

I am of the fan base section taking a wait and see attitude towards Dooley. Admittedly, it's hard to get excited about him, but I'm going to give him a shot.

What exactly are these expectations based off of anyway? Maybe well overachieve based on what you think the expectations will be. People are saying that we will be lucky to win 6 games. Well Kentucky has won 6 games 4 str8 yrs. I like our team better than any of those teams with the exception of MAYBE 07 Kentucky. We are still more talented than at least half the teams in the SEC. I realize we have been performing below expectations the last 2 yrs. Maybe it will go the other way this yr.

Disagree a little bit. I think last years team was about what we expected. We lost a game that we hadn't really counted on (UCLA), but then beat UGA, which most people didn't expect. In the end the record was pretty much in line with reasonable preseason expectations considering everything that happened in '08 and the offseason.

Regardless of how bad things could this year for our football program, a true fan is suppose to stick behind their team, and support them through thick and thin. You have to realize that we were Tennessee back in 98 when we won the National Championship, and we're still Tennessee going into the 2010 season. Go Big Orange!

..every notice the "negativity" always comes from the same people everytime no matter the subject or conversation. These are not sports people; just internet haters. Small people+small lives+no ambition + internet access= trolls.
Bones never lie.
(sites such as Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network(kids sites) have to hire full time admins to patrol their boards because of these types(sure its not kids posting hate and stupidity)..yea thats how stupid its become as some have had to take down any type of outside posting)

Gotta love the WD!

There's a huge difference between negativity and realism. There seems to be plenty of people on this board who can't seem to tell the difference between the two.

Realism is understanding our talent level is down and we haven't anywhere near the depth we are used to. Realism is understanding our coach is young and has positives and negatives but is basically an unknown quality at this point.

Negativism is constantly carping on his or the staffs perceived failings or shortcomings and constantly screeching there is not way he or they can get the job done.

Stupidity is doing the above to the point where it appears one is wishing our coach to fail.

I want the Vols to win whoever the coach is and will give any coach time to see where they take us.

Realism- "Sure, our team is a little over matched and we have an unproven coach. But I bet that our boys will play their heart out every down for our team and I will support them."

Negativity- "The team has no chance to win more than 6 games. The coach has no ability to recruit or get anyone to perform for him and I will be pissed if he's here for more than three years."

You tell me which one we've have seen more on these forums.
