Negativity from fans and media makes a difference

I wrote my response this way on purpose. Look at the replies. See words do create feelings and then people react. Players are the same.

I honestly feel that criticism is a must to improve but one can criticize and also see the bigger picture. We have a lot of fortune tellers on here that want to bash, not criticize, the predict the future. I see the o line struggles, I see Dobbs struggling with the deep ball, I see Martin not getting his head around, I see Medley still be unbelievably accurate at hitting the right upright, I see Debord still call plays that leave me wondering WTF was that. I can critique without bashing. I just wonder why so many cannot see the difference.

Probably has something to do with you being an a##hole. :)

When I was a kid my gym teacher separated the class into two teams. One with athletic types and the other team looked like we didn't have a chance.

He called the game before we ran up the score on them and preceded to tell us he had actually divided the team into the ones with good sportsmanship and attitude and the ones without.

I take it you were a good sport.

Because those you label negative see the big picture. Yes were are 3-0. The big picture is we are staring 3-4 right in the face because we aren't half the team we were against NW last Jan.

The face value on My tickets for this week's game is $95- double of my NFL tickets. You have the ba!!s to charge me that ridiculous price and put that on the field. I will act anyway I want. You cant have everything. If you screw people over and put out a crap product on the field then you are going to hear it!

Then when they lose don't Bitc$ about it!!

I agree, but oppose who viciously attack-bash coaches and players especially those who state that they hope a player or coach get hurt or that we lose any ball game.

Do you have any opinions whatsoever on Hillary or Trump? If so, please keep them to yourself since you've never run for president.

Go search political forums and see if you can find one. "Never let anyone outside the family know what you're thinking"

Thats a pretty big stretch and very heavy on over reaction at this point.

We are also staring 7-0 in the face too.

No, we aren't. There has been absolutely nothing shown by this team in the first 3 games that makes any rational person believe we are. I will be at the FL game being as positive as I can. But I am not expecting to leave happy. I am hoping and praying that we turn it around, but the first 3 games say otherwise.

I was at ASU and OH, watched every second of VT. You obviously didn't, are delusional (famous VN word), have no idea what a TEAM looks like, or are a UT insider and know that none of our players are really hurt and are all coming back next week and that Butch has only been playing just well enough to win. I know which ones I would bet on.

Op, what he said on that subject was interesting but I put it third at best.

#1 BY FAR
That almost every single play is an option. Receivers run the routes and expect the pass, even if the initial call is a run by a back or Dobbs. And Dobbs throws on run plays. That he (Kyler)would open a hole for a designed run for Hurd and Dobbs would suddenly try a pass.

All of the conversation we have about Debord's or Jones' pass to run ratio, or why did Debord call 2 straight passes in the flat, and they're not the ones making that call.
Whether I like that or not, Kyler saying as much was mind blowing to me.

I absolute have watched every second of UT football this year. I can see our weaknesses just as much as I'm sure you can. And my comment stands at this point I think you are over reacting.

Let me explain to you how business works and yes, UT football is a business. See we had a horrible coach named Dooley for 3 years. He was eventually fired. Do you know why he was fired? Most think it is because he wasn't winning, but that isn't true. He was fired because fans stopped buying tickets. But let's pretend fans stayed positive in 2012 and sold out every home game and purchased all the season tickets for 2013, even with the team going 5-7, because they wanted to be positive to support the team. If that happened then Dooley is still the coach in 2013. As fans we vote with our money and that is all the athletic dept listens to. If we don't beat UF and go 3-1 over the next 4 weeks then I won't renew my season tickets. Why spend $300+ dollars on every home weekend to watch trash football?

Wait.

Are you saying if Tennessee lost to Florida then ran off wins over UGA, A&M, and Alabama you would cancel your tickets?

That is absolute insanity if that's the case.

They won't. They have zero chance of doing that. Losing to Florida will crumble this team.

If he wanted to play for a team with low expectations, he should have went somewhere else.

As much as I hate Saban, he even got mad at his players/coaches when team was not playing up to expectations.

The fact is to this point the team is playing undisciplined and unfundamentally sound. There is no excuse for that in CBJs 4th year. They are very poorly coached.

My tickets average over $250 a piece per game when you figure donation and parking so I have every right to complain when I see this slop on the field (I don't ever engage players on social media or in public when I see them). If it wasn't for us as fans going to games and watching on TV the players would not be enjoying all the amenities the have today. They would have facilities and travel like FCS/DII schools.

When CBJ says fans love is conditional that's BS. We will be here long after he is gone. We will praise them we the do good and call them out when they don't. If not we are not doing our job. But our love isn't going anywhere. Maybe we need to educate him on that.

Fans want to see good football which has been in short supply in Knoxville for most of the last decade.

No one is forcing these players to pay attention to message boards or the media so, if they can't handle some criticism, maybe they should turn their attention elsewhere.

You chumps need to be careful what you ask for because it wasn't long ago when we were crying and wondering why we couldn't get top talent to come to Tennessee to play for our team. Now all of sudden that we've forgotten how it was around here just 2 years ago losing to Vanderbilt and Kentucky you want to challenge the players because they are not winning the way you want them to. Challenging the players is going to get you somewhere. Especially when they are they are the ones putting there bodies on the line for our school. Y'all b@#$@#s need to grow up and get a life for real and if you don't like so called bad wins go find a new team. Leave the kids alone! Go Vols!!!
