Negativity from fans and media makes a difference

The thing is why be negative when that hurts the team? Be positive get behind the team and help fire them and the coaches up and then there's a good chance we see them playing better and winning by bigger margins. But no most people wants to put them down in the dirt then Bitc! When they play bad!! Cheer up folks and get back to the positives, remember were 3-0 and until we lose we could go all the way!! GBO!!

I think part of their problem is that they listened to too many folks telling them how great they were. Coaches bought in as well....IMO.

Yeah, because former and current players don't know what they're talking about... lol

UT, the UTAD, the coaching staff and the players cant expect fans to buy into the Vol Walk, 100K at every home game, 160K at Bristol and buying season tickets at a sold out pace and not be emotionally involved. OTOH, If these guys are playing at their highest level right now, then they need to tell the truth, "We're good mid-major players (App State and Ohio are good in their league) but no where near SEC caliber"....

"For whom much is given, much is expected"

This thread is directed more so at players, but Butch Jones better grow some thicker skin bc if he loses to Florida next week this might be his last season. He can't stake his claim at Tennessee on beating teams like Vandy/Kentucky his whole career. If we lose next week, this is the beginning of the end for the Butch Jones tenure. Not a popular opinion, but truth I believe.

Let me translate this:

I refuse to take responsibility that my words and actions have an impact on a person. It's their fault for listening.

You're an a$$hole and if you're offended it's your fault for reading my response.

This post sounds like the new political correct culture society. If you do not believe the way I do then you are being offensive and should have no voice.

I think the fans are concerned and considering their contribution to the success of the program have every right to voice those concerns.

Glad we are winning but the fans, and media, have a right to be vocal when the team struggles against significantly weaker teams. Alumni, current students, and fans pumping cash into tickets and gear can say what they like.
I didn't hear any current or former player being vocal about noise when they were hyped up all off season. Now that everyone knows the oline is getting owned and corners are getting badly beaten the chatter should stop?
So far we have played 12 quarters of football and only 2 quarters of them have been really good.

Exactly. This team and staff had everyone stroking their egos and telling them how great they were before the season. Everything was oh so positive. Yet they deliver the results you outlined. Definition of insanity comes to mind. Bet Saban wouldn't be stroking egos and clapping after yesterday.

Let me explain to you how business works and yes, UT football is a business. See we had a horrible coach named Dooley for 3 years. He was eventually fired. Do you know why he was fired? Most think it is because he wasn't winning, but that isn't true. He was fired because fans stopped buying tickets. But let's pretend fans stayed positive in 2012 and sold out every home game and purchased all the season tickets for 2013, even with the team going 5-7, because they wanted to be positive to support the team. If that happened then Dooley is still the coach in 2013. As fans we vote with our money and that is all the athletic dept listens to. If we don't beat UF and go 3-1 over the next 4 weeks then I won't renew my season tickets. Why spend $300+ dollars on every home weekend to watch trash football?

Wrong. They are out there breaking bones to bring you wins. You see what's happening in this fan base.

There are fans working dangerous jobs that financially support the school and football program. The players aren't the only ones investing their time and efforts.

Didn't they win 2 meaningful games last year? UGA and NW? Oh that se didn't care unit or support your response, my bad

If it's only this year then I guess the BaB wasn't big enough for you.

3-0

No, the Battle of Bristol is not a meaningful victory. Breaking an 11 game losing streak is.

Northwestern? Really?

This is 100% correct. They literally have broken their own bones in the act of obtaining a victory and yet the fans still are not pleased because it doesn't look pretty.

Nothing is unique about Tennessee football. All teams have injuries and yet they find ways to win. Butch Jones cannot use that excuse, and neither should our fans. Football is a brutal game and these players choose to play it.

Seriously? Come on man, do these giys think that when they find a job and screw up that the boss won't tell them that they suck?

If they can't handle criticism now, they won't be able to handle it later in life, at least on here they can just as easily not read a message board, big shocker I know, maybe if some of them spent less time reading message boards and more time practicing or what not then they wouldn't suck so bad and then the fans wouldn't criticize them

I can see that. Regardless, if he cant beat Florida with this team's talent, he wont beat them next year with lesser talent. Regardless, he's gone by my estimation.

Regardless. ☺️

You are right about the money issue. However, 2-2 would be acceptable if one of the 2 was Fla or Bama, imo.

Unfortunately, football is a hard hitting contact sport and injuries and broke bones happen, if you don't want to get hurt don't play football, but injuries can also happen in badminton:yes:

Newsflash.

Every game is meaningful. Why do you choose to single out two from last season?

Because I was replying to a previous post. For an adult who doesn't take responsibility you are also not very good at reading the entire conversation.

And yet I've not seen one cross word typed/said about a player who is hurt. If anything I've seen nothing but well wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

I guess technically fans get a bit riled up and wished the giy hadn't got hurt because he's one of the best players, so I guess thats a bit selfish right?

Lol wow sensitive much? He should be allowed to express whatever opinion he wants. If it hurts the players feelings, then maybe the player should focus on other things. If he can't handle something he read on the internet, then maybe he needs to mature a bit.

Please tell me you made a typo with the 3-1 over the next 4 games would cause you to drop your season tickets. If we did do that we would have beaten 2 ranked teams on the road and #1 Alabama to be 6-1.

You're acting like we drug them off the playground and threw them out there against their will. It's. What they signed up for, man up or go home. Nation of wusses.

This makes no sense whatsoever. Fade you and I have done this before and nothing has changed over the years. You still are a disgruntled individual and I'm still a happy go lucky guy. You can twist it and spin it but I'll never believe you have a good intention in your body.

Remember years ago when you came out all like my kids can read this and I need to change?

Yeah, you didn't change
