I cant even imagine the pain the parents are going thru or your son. This has been a way to common trend the past 5 years. Right before Christmas makes it even worse. Prayers for his family and friends and your son!

Yep it’s awful. 20+ extended family members in town. Their HS friend group and the kids gf in town. Told my son anger, sadness…whatever u feel u feel.
These meds they put kids on immediately when signs of struggle can be the devil. His mom went to his work to say hi, he wasn’t there, his car was open with wallet and phone inside. She walked around back I see if he was taking out trash or something and found him. I can’t get that image out of my head. Used his dads gun.

agree 100% about the meds - ever notice when they are advertised anywhere, it aways says, thoughts of suicide as a possible side effect . Really how can that be good ?

Yep. Suicidal thoughts and tendencies. It’s a crap shoot, especially when most haven’t had the testing to see how their mind/body makeup will react. Before taking any med prescribed, people should do those tests. You may be taking a grenade for a pill and have no idea until it happens

I'm head of security at a mental health facility and I see these kids come in all the time. It's sad because you can just see the hell they're dealing with in their eyes and on their faces. I wish I could say I have faith in today's mental health system, but I honestly don't feel that way. A lot of the continued problems are like mentioned in this thread already are the medications, I feel the other part and I"M NOT SAYING this was the case in your sons friend's situation, but you honestly see a lot of "parents" that don't give a damn. The kids will get sent here because the school is worried or often, they'll say something alarming at school. When the parents get here, they'll be like "The school said he needs to talk to someone. I think he's fine". See it daily. Without getting political the whole COVID thing also REALLY messed up a bunch of our kids. Factor that into social media and bullying and these kids have to deal with A LOT that they shouldn't these days.
